Staff profile- meet Casey our activities Team Leader.🥰
1. How long have you worked here, and what first brought you to the organisation?
10 Years! I started my placement here for individual support & applied for employment when my placement was complete.
2. What do you love most about your role as Lifestyle Team Leader?
Having the opportunity to create meaningful and enjoyable experiences for our residents. Seeing the residents genuinely happy, engaged, and looking forward to what’s next is incredibly rewarding. I also love that my role allows me to promote wellbeing and independence every day. Supporting residents to stay active, make choices, and maintain a sense of purpose is something I’m passionate about.
3. What inspires you when planning activities for residents?
The residents themselves! Their personalities, interests, and input guide everything I do. I’m motivated by creating moments that bring them genuine joy—activities that make them feel engaged, valued, and happiest. Seeing their smiles and hearing their feedback inspires me to design experiences that enrich their day-to-day lives.
4. What’s one of your favourite moments or memories with residents so far?
There are so many! Melbourne Cup celebrations are always a favourite! Seeing the resident's all dressed up, feeling good and enjoying themselves, modelling their outfits at the Fashions on the Floor event!
5. What does a “perfect day” at work look like for you?
Seeing the residents happy and smiling!
6. What is something people might be surprised to learn about you?
I love fishing. I may have even won a few trophies over the years.
7. What do you enjoy doing outside of work? Any hobbies or interests?
Spending time with family & friends, camping, fishing, listening to music.
8. What’s one thing you hope to bring to the lifestyle/activities program this year?
One thing I hope to bring to the lifestyle and activities program this year is a stronger focus on fostering independence and purpose for our residents. I want to support them in reconnecting with day‑to‑day tasks and hobbies they once enjoyed—activities like cooking, ironing, or gardening that help maintain identity and confidence. A guiding principle for me is Maria Montessori’s motto: “Help me to do it by myself.” This philosophy of encouraging independence and providing freedom within supportive limits continues to shape the way I approach resident engagement. My goal is to empower residents to participate in meaningful activities that enrich their daily lives and reinforce their sense of capability.
