Sciatica is a term for a group of symptoms that cause pain along the path of the sciatic nerve.

This nerve runs through your lower back, hips and buttocks, and down each leg.

When something irritates or compresses the nerve, you might feel pain that radiates down your leg, along with tingling, numbness, or even weakness.

This pain can vary from mild to severe, and while it’s often linked to a disc problem in the spine, it can also be caused by other issues like spinal stenosis (a narrowing of the spinal canal) or even non-spinal factors.

The good news is that sciatica usually improves over time with treatments, exercise, and other hollistic approaches.

It’s important to get a proper assessment to understand the cause of your symptoms and find the best treatment plan to help you feel better.

Class environments can be fun and motivating but also challenging, especially when learning new activities.

Poor technique and performing complex movements under fatigue can lead to pain or injury.

Practicing movements is essential to build the necessary strength and endurance.

Ensure adequate rest between sessions and avoid consecutive workout days to allow muscle recovery and prevent injuries. Good sleep and nutrition are also crucial for recovery and performance.

For advice on group classes or concerns about your technique, get in touch with us.
We're here to help enhance your training experience and prevent injuries.

Subacromial bursitis can be a real pain, literally. It’s when the bursa, a fluid-filled sac in your shoulder, gets irritated and inflamed. This can happen due to repetitive movements, poor posture, or everyday activities.

But here’s the good news: it’s manageable. You don’t need to be overly cautious or avoid using your shoulder altogether. Movement is medicine. Gradually increasing your shoulder activity, strengthening the muscles around it, and working on overall shoulder mobility can help you return to your normal life.

Remember, pain doesn’t always mean damage. Listen to your body, but don’t let fear of pain hold you back. If you need guidance on exercises or a personalised plan, our team at The Spinal Studio is here to help you get back on track.

Sleeping less than seven hours, particularly under six and a half, leads to an increased prevalence of various health disorders.

Many people may not recognise the cumulative impact of sleep deficits on physical recovery and cognitive functions such as performance, memory, speed, and accuracy.

The negative effects of sleep deprivation build up over time and exposure, although individuals vary in their sensitivity to these effects.

Therefore, it’s critical to prioritise sleep, carefully planning for adequate and undisturbed rest, to protect our cognitive health and body performance.

Posture is key. It provides the foundation for our body’s strength and control.

Posture is often though to be a static position, but it’s more than that. Posture is the makeup of our patterns of movement, habits and anything that challenges us throughout the day.

At The Spinal Studio, posture is one of the components we sue to help understand your life and movements. It provides our practitioners a foundation for treatment that can lead to positive change for optimised movement and minimised pain.
