When a child moves independently – even in small ways – something powerful happens. They learn: “I did that!”
Early mobility is closely linked to cause-and-effect learning. When a child rolls to reach a toy, scoots toward a parent, or initiates movement across the room, they begin to understand that their actions influence the world around them.
This supports:
🧸 Cognitive development through problem-solving
🧸 Visual tracking and spatial awareness
🧸 Motivation and curiosity
🧸 Social interaction and connection
🧸 Early independence
For children with additional needs, introducing mobility supports as part of an early intervention program can help create these opportunities sooner, in a safe and developmentally appropriate way.
Early mobility builds the foundation for learning, participation and growth. Not just getting from one place to another.
