THE PRACTICE OF MEDICINE BUDDHA
An introduction with
Master Lama Chewang Norbu Bhutia

Join our Resident Teacher, Master Lama Chewang Norbu Bhutia for an in-person step by step guide to the practice of Medicine Buddha (Sangye Menla).

This is a unique opportunity to learn this wonderful Vajrayana meditation practice directly from a qualified master within the Tibetan Buddhist tradition.

This session is suitable for beginners and those looking to deepen their understanding. Lama will help you feel more at ease and inspired in your practice.

In this practical session you will learn:
the step by step structure of the practice
the meaning behind the prayers
how to chant the practice with the melody
how to chant the mantras
the essential visualisations
how to use the ritual implements including bell and dorje, and damaru (drum)

Date: 10am to 3pm Sunday 3 May 2026

Join us over the Australia Day Long Weekend in January 2026 for this 3-day retreat that will introduce beginners to Shamatha (tranquillity) and Vipassana (insight) meditation practices that help us to settle the mind, and develop awareness and insight.

This is a practice retreat which includes short teachings and guided meditations together with periods of meditation in a retreat format with Master Lama Chewang Norbu Bhutia.

The retreat is also suitable for more experienced meditators who would like to practice in a group setting.

Participants can also join traditional Green Tara (mornings) and Mahakala (evenings) practices in addition to the retreat program.

Sessions will include:
-Relaxation techniques
-Himalayan breathing and stretching techniques to support meditation
-Shamatha (tranquillity) meditation
-Sitting and walking meditation
-Vipassana (Deepening awareness and insight)

The retreat will conclude at midday on Monday 26 January with a Mountain of Smoke Offering and (Ganachakra) Tsokhor of Karma Pakshi practice.
