With the Olympics right around the corner, I just had to share this incredible story about one of our rockstar patients, Gabrielle. She recently attended and represented Australia at the World Championship of Walking Football (IWFF) in Chesterfield, England. 🏆⚽️

Gabrielle has been playing soccer every weekend for over 15 years, and she’s even competed in the Pan-Pacific and Masters Games for soccer. And get this – she’s done all this while raising 4 amazing kids and she has suffered multiple injuries, even having surgery on her knee and neck!

We’ve been working with Gabrielle to keep her in top shape, and it’s inspiring to see her thrive and do what she loves. It just goes to show no matter your age or what you’ve been through, when you look after your body it can do amazing things.

We’re so proud of you, Gabrielle! Keep smashing those goals! 💪❤️

Today’s I decided to clean out some of my shoe collection and it got me thinking about what shoe is right shoe.

Shoes are unfortunately pushed via flashy marketing campaigns and we often pick fashion over function or we get swept up in the current complex trends that don’t actually help us.

The 2 most popular trends have been the minimalist, the argument is we were born barefoot and cushioning and support was “unnatural”. The shoe industry over corrected we all bought flat shoes with minimal support, while these work great for some others developed injuries. Again the industry adjusted and swung the other way the “maximalist”, of course working for some and not others. The same happened with training shoes specifically developed for the gym.

So which shoe is right for you? Trends allow us to explore and learn what works, the downside is getting swept up in a trend that doesn’t work for us.

Picking the right shoe is tricky and is likely to prevent up to 20% problems if you pick the right shoe.

These are the stairs to my office.
We all know taking the stairs is better for you than jumping in the lift or taking the escalator. Taking the stairs for as little as 25 seconds a day or 3 minutes a week could reduce your risk of dying of cardiovascular disease by 15%. Yet when observed in the “wild” only 2% take the stairs according to research.

The studies are in and for athletes there can be up to a 16% improvement in strength following a chiropractic adjustment. Now I don’t know about you but if I was competing in the “sports” I would be checking out a chiropractor ASAP.
