Infertility comes up more often than people think. Roughly 1 in 6 Australian couples experience it at some point.

So it tends to sit closer to home than we expect. Sometimes it’s your own situation. Sometimes it’s someone you know well. What’s interesting is how quietly it’s still held. Even now, a lot of people go through it without saying much.

That silence can make things feel more isolating than they need to be. When the conversation opens up, something shifts. It becomes easier to understand what’s actually involved, and easier for people to feel less alone in it.

You don’t need to be an expert to be part of that. Just being willing to talk about it helps 😌

Unfortunately, your ovaries don’t leave you notes 📌

Egg numbers decline quietly over time. There’s no built-in alarm to tell you when they’re running low. For most women, changes only become noticeable much later, when hormone patterns start to shift (like in perimenopause). Until then, it’s often a silent process.

That’s why if you’re thinking about fertility timing or options like egg freezing, blood tests such as AMH and a pelvic ultrasound to evaluate the ovaries and follicle count can offer insight your body don’t always physically signal.

What does ~trying~ actually mean when it comes to trying to conceive?

For many people, it starts with stopping contraception. From there, ~trying~ usually means having s*x regularly during the fertile window each month. This is the time in your cycle when pregnancy is most likely 🌱

If you’ve heard the 12 month guideline, it’s based on this pattern happening consistently over time. Around 3 to 4 times during the fertile window each cycle.

That said, real life doesn’t always follow a pattern. Some months feel easier than others. Timing, stress, health and schedules can all play a part.

Keeping track of your cycle and when you’re trying can help build a clearer picture over time. It also means that if you do decide to speak with a fertility specialist, we can understand what’s been happening and what to look at next.

You don’t need to get everything exactly right. Understanding your cycle is a useful place to start 🤍

A lot of people don’t think about s***m health until the moment it matters. That’s normal.

The good news? S***m regenerates every ~70 days, which means lifestyle changes can make a difference relatively quickly ✨

Some simple, achievable places to start:

→ cutting back on smoking and alcohol :
→ prioritising regular sleep
→ managing stress where possible
→ moving your body consistently (not perfectly)
→ eating a balanced diet and staying well hydrated

Remember, it takes two to tango, and information helps everyone move toward the same goal!

How many eggs do you actually need to freeze? It’s one of the most common questions we hear in clinic.

❄️ In your 20s, you may collect 10–20+ mature eggs in a cycle.
❄️ In your early 30s, often around 8–12.
❄️ By your mid to late 30s, numbers can be lower, and more than one cycle is sometimes recommended.

But numbers are only part of the story. Your age, your hormone levels, your ovarian reserve and your goals all matter. There isn’t a one-size-fits-all answer.

Egg freezing is about understanding your options, so you can make decisions that feel right for you. If you’re curious where you sit, it starts with a conversation.

Eye on the prize 👀🍫

Did you know s***m don’t ‘know’ where the egg is? They follow chemical signals and natural currents that guide them in the right direction.

Sounds like us when the bowl of Easter eggs are brought out in the clinic! 😋

30/03/2026

While our clinics are closed for the long weekend, our work behind the scenes continues. Here’s how Easter looks at Create Fertility.

Our clinics will be closed:
🐰 Good Friday
🐰 Easter Saturday
🐰 Easter Sunday
🐰 Easter Monday

But not everything stops…
☝️ Our team will still be working behind the scenes for results on Easter Saturday
🥚 Egg retrievals will continue on Easter Monday
✨ Embryo transfers will continue as planned

If your Day 1 falls over the long weekend, email our Patient Liaison Team at patientliaison@createfertility.com.au and we’ll get everything organised when we’re back Tuesday 7 April.

Thinking you might start your cycle soon? It’s worth calling ahead to have everything in place, you can also ask us about a random start to help plan around the break.

Wishing you a happy Easter filled with chocolate, hot cross buns and a little time to switch off 🍫

Considering egg freezing but not sure what actually happens? Here’s what the process usually looks like.

❄️ It starts with a one-on-one consultation to review your health, ovarian reserve and goals. From there, if you decide to move forward, your cycle usually begins with your next period. But you can really start anytime you like (yes, random start!)

❄️ You’ll take hormone injections for around two weeks to help several eggs mature. We’ll see you for check-ins and ultrasounds along the way, and our nurses guide you through every step.

❄️ When your follicles are ready, you’ll have a short egg collection procedure under light sedation. Most people are home the same day.

Understanding the process can help you decide if it feels right for you.

Whenever you are ready, we are here.

Some of the hardest moments in a fertility journey aren’t medical. They’re the comments people don’t realise can sting. Often they come from a good place, but they can land as dismissal, minimising something very real.

If you’re navigating fertility concerns, you’re allowed to feel exactly how you feel. And if you’re supporting someone who is, sometimes the most powerful thing you can say is simply: I’m here and I’m listening 💜

We see this a lot. People feeling really disappointed about their egg numbers, especially after comparing themselves to others.

But honestly, after doing this for so long, one thing is very clear to us. No two fertility journeys ever look the same. They all have their unique twists and turns. Sometimes it’s going well and sometimes it can feel like it’s not.

So please remember, this is your special story, not anyone else’s. We’ll be riding the highs and lows right beside you 💪
