I'm so excited to announce my 4-week Beginners Yoga Program! It's a stress-free, interactive and supportive introduction to yoga for those who are new, returning after a break, or wanting to build confidence in a calm and welcoming space.
🕔 5:30pm every Wednesday evening in February
📍 Amrita Yoga in Dingley Village

You’ll be introduced to foundational yoga postures, simple breathing practices, and basic mindfulness techniques. There’s no pressure, expectation, or the need for prior experience.

ISVARA PRANIDHANA - SURRENDER (to Source/Universe/God).

You don't have to be of religious faith to pause and consider that there's greatness beyond your human existence on this planet.

Turn your attention to the wonder of the natural world. Be awed and inspired by the absurdity of evolution. The vastness of the cosmos. And realise that because we are all one, we are all connected, that all life is sacred.

✨WEEK 9 OF 10 WEEKS OF YOGA PHILOSOPHY✨
We are nearing the end of my 10 weeks of themed yoga and now we turn towards the reason why so many people come to yoga: SVADHYAYA - STUDY OF THE SELF.
Yogic practices encourage us to linger in our experience as we explore breath, movement, stillness, sensation, wandering thoughts and internal story.
Sometimes it is exhilarating when we become aware and know ourselves with greater clarity.
And, sometimes, when we come up against our inner walls, fear of what we might find on the other side keeps us from seeking deeper.
That is why we must inquire kindly.
Tread carefully.
Retreat as we need.
As a Mental Health First Aider further trained in Mental Health Aware Yoga, I will hold supportive, compassionate space as you explore who you are, little by little.

▪️ Heat
▪️ Discipline
▪️ Right Practice
Join me in yoga class this week and set your intention towards the effort required to maintain discipline. Kindle a 🔥 within you!
We will practice:
▪️ Controlling the breath
▪️ Heat-building asana (poses)
▪️ Following direction
▪️ Maintaining concentration
▪️ Balancing our efforts with rest and release in Savasana

All this from a mindful approach to our physical and mental health needs and abilities, because I offer plenty of guidance, support and variations for you to try.

Beginner and intermittent yogis are encouraged and always warmly welcomed.😊 Mats and props are provided, so all you need to do it book a class and show up!

Who's yearning to feel more CONTENTMENT (Santosha) in their lives? 🙋‍♀️
The second Niyama (personal observances) of Yoga Philosophy will be our theme in group yoga classes this week as I gently guide you to
▪️ notice resistance within
▪️ accept "what is" in the moment, and
▪️ decide how to respond from this space to allow satisfaction and contentment to settle in
I teach non-performative yoga by adapting poses and other practices to suit the students in the class, rather than insisting upon conformity for the sake of aesthetics. It's your yoga practice!
If you're a curious yogi or a beginner wanting to give it a try, do join in! You will be very warmly welcomed.😊

Let me introduce you to the five Niyamas, known as "personal observances" in yoga philosophy.
This week, yoga classes will be themed around the first Niyama: SAUCA - CLEANLINESS
Sauca goes beyond wearing deodorant to class and wiping down your mat after practice! It also encourages us to look at what else we can "clean up" in our lives:
➡️ Our home, work and communal environments
➡️ Our established daily routines and habits
➡️ What we eat, drink, and absorb through our skin
➡️ How we show up in our interactions with others
In a yoga class we aim to:
🩵 move our bodies cleanly and smoothly whilst remaining stable
🩵 cultivate clear and regulating breathing patterns, and
🩵 INtentionally pay ATtention to maintain focus

This week, yoga classes will be themed around the fifth Yama in Yogic Philosophy: APARIGRAHAH - non grasping
There are many ways we can play with this concept
PHYSICAL: noticing points of tension throughout the body as we sit, stand, balance and breathe
INTELLECTUAL: levels of concentration and determination, of striving and desiring
EMOTIONAL: questioning the validity and logic of stories and belief systems that we continue to hold onto
Whether you're new to yoga, are returning after some time, or would like to practice with the guidance of a mental health trained yoga teacher, I would love to welcome you into any of my non-performative small group classes. Let's breathe • move • soothe together!

Modern interpretations of Brahmacharya are far more palatable, such as "self control", "self regulation", and "right use of energy."

The third Yama in Yoga Philosophy is ASTEYA - Non-Stealing.
It sounds obvious. Do not take what is not yours to have. So, how does this concept play out in a yoga class?🤔
You could join me in either 9:30am SLOW FLOW or 11:00am YIN YOGA tomorrow as we explore our own needs and the needs of others, using Asteya to honour boundaries in relation to physical possessions, and people's time, space, energy levels and emotional capacity.
(Please note there are no Friday or Saturday classes this week)

✨10 WEEKS OF YOGA PHILOSOPHY✨
There are only 10 weeks of TAYoga group classes left for the year!
With five Yamas (ethical guidelines) and five Niyamas (personal observances) that make up the first two of the Eight Limbs of Yoga, I am going to theme my classes each week around one of these philosophical topics.
With mindful and thought-provoking prompts offered throughout class, I hope to spark your curiosity and awareness of your own values and beliefs as we practice together.
THIS WEEK we will begin with the Yama AHIMSA - non-harm.
Beginners are always warmly welcome!❤️
And, you could bring a little notebook to write in after class if you have an epiphany (or two)!📒✏️
