✨Dancing in the grey area✨
Something I've been sitting with recently is the interplay of yin and yang we experience, on a large, and micro, scale. Humans live in constant duality, but not solely in black and white--we're spiralic, fluid, fractal beings.
In Taoist philosophy, it is believed that the friction between yin and yang, light and dark, is what creates us! The tension of the interplay, or the ‘Taoist line’ is what makes life exist.
It is said that we can never be fully immersed in one ‘way’– its opposition will come to reckon with us sooner or later. An example is; when we are in our Yang all the time, filling our days, working really hard, burning the candle at both ends, and we eventually go on a holiday, often... we get sick. Our nervous system crashes, our immunity is low, and we dive unwillingly into Yang’s buffer...The Yin.
When we try to be in the light all the time, the dark comes in to bring balance.
Once we understand that duality and its friction are a phenomenon of life itself, we can work to embody it. If jumping in feet first feels too much, why don’t we just test the waters instead?
🤍Can we make space for a few minutes of quiet time amongst the business of our days? It might look like driving home in silence or a few deep breaths before bed.
🤎Or maybe we go for a run, dance around the house or attend an energising vinyasa yoga class to spark some yang into a slow day at the computer.
Tipping the scales to mix the black with the white, the yin with the yang, can stave off the whiplash we can feel from swinging between one extreme to the other. Dancing in the grey may just be the dance of life ☯
At Wild Yoga, we give to you a full spectrum of classes and offerings for you to experience the dance of yin and yang and everything in between.
