Last night!!! We had the perfect little storm sit right in the sweet spot of our catchment and let me tell you it was a sight for sore eyes! Water almost going over Reynolds creek bridge. Will definitely keep you updated if we get anymore.

The fact is this IS OUR WAY OF LIFE for all of us. It’s not only a way of life for our kids and us but this Lake is a lifeline for all our small family businesses in this area. The lake brings a large number for tourist (and tourist $$) to our region week in and week out. The lost of campers to lake Moogerah is not being fully felt as we have had COVID and the low water levels however from our experience when things do recover other local businesses will definitely feel the loss of visitors staying at Lake Moogerah.

A young family fighting for access to Moogerah Dam for their small tourism operation say their way of life is at stake after a draining two year struggle against bureaucracy.

​A Fire Ban prohibiting the lighting of fires in the open is currently in place from 0001hrs on Friday 16 October 2020 to 2359hrs on Monday 19 October 2020 for the Logan, Scenic Rim, Ipswich, Lockyer Valley and Somerset Local Government Areas. All permit to light fire previously issued in the local fire ban area are hereby cancelled. Please refer to the attched declaration of Fire Ban for full details and any exemptions.

It did not take long for Lake Moogerah to start filling. This picture, taken in 1961, shows the water level only one year after the dam wall was completed in 1960. The dam wall was completed just one year after construction started in 1959. Lake Moogerah provides drinking water for the surrounding regions including Boonah and Ipswich.

The decision to permanently cut 400 of the 450 potential camping sites at Lake Moogerah’s AG Muller Park has been criticised by the State Member for Scenic Rim, Jon Krause.

⚠️ Public Health Alert ⚠️

Community members on Brisbane’s southside are asked to remain alert but not alarmed as Queensland records three new cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

The first case is a 19-year-old woman who tested positive after travelling interstate last week. She is an employee at Parklands Christian College on Brisbane’s southside. Queensland Health is working closely with the school which has temporarily closed until further notice.

The second case is a 19-year-old female travel companion. Both cases travelled interstate together last week. It is believed they contracted the virus in Melbourne, Victoria.

The third reported case is a known close contact, a 22-year-old woman, who tested positive later today. This individual is an employee of YMCA Chatswood Hills Outside School Hours Care. Queensland Health is working closely with the school and the care centre, both of which have temporarily closed until further notice.

Any individuals who were present at the below locations at the relevant times are asked to immediately self-quarantine and contact 13 HEALTH (13 43 25 84).
