Sailability Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia Freedom on the Water - Sharing a love of sailing with our friends since 1998. We have the pleasure of sailing with over eighty people every week.

Sailability Sunshine Coast started in February 1998 and from humble beginnings has grown into the large operation it is today. Sailing a fleet of Hansa 303W Dinghies from our facility in Mooloolaba we cater for clients and carers from all over the Sunshine Coast. Our Hansa Dinghies are designed specifically for our needs, we have a pontoon facility that is wheel chair friendly, a davit for lifting and a group of volunteers to make the experience of sailing safe and lots of fun for all. The Mooloolah River is an all-weather area enclosed from the sea and except for unexpected conditions we operate all year round. We have a covered meeting and check-in section and a larger covered waiting area with seating overlooking our pontoons and boat launching facility. Actual sailing time is approximately half an hour but all are welcome to stay for a chat and soft drink. Sailability is a not-for-profit organisation with a charity status run entirely by volunteers.

WE NEED YOUR HELP
Two of our sailors, Sonja & Damien, have been selected to compete in the 2025 Australian Para Sailing Championships to be held in Perth on November 29th & 30th.

We are seeking donations to help offset the costs associated with competing in this event, including registration, team shirts, travel & accommodation.

A great evening tonight at Rhythms by the River organised by Grant Whisker Real Estate Agent as a fund raiser on our behalf. We took about 40 people out for a sail, a notable number were younger who had never been in a small sailing boat before, hopefully we have a few converts 🙂
Thank you to all our volunteers who supported the night, and of course to Grant Whisker’s team who did an amazing job, Robyn, Annalise and the staff thank you for all the hours that have happened in the background!
It was a great evening, the weather was good, although our Hansa 303s would have liked a bit more puff in the wind. The crowd obviously enjoyed the band and the food trucks 🙂 and the sight of our boats parading past.
Thanks to all who supported us by donations, auction bids and the like…
This sort of support keeps us operating well and providing an essential service allowing those with disabilities to get outside their normal zone, get out of the wheelchair in some cases, and enjoy the feeling of being on the water. That’s why we do it. Thank you

For all those attending by the River we, Sailability Sunshine Coast, will be offering 20 minute sailing experiences with experienced volunteer skippers in our amazing Hansa 303 dinghies for a donation to support us. We will be sailing from about 3pm/15:00 (before the concert starts) until 5:15/17:15, due to the sun setting not too much later. Please come and experience what we do, but note that, due to the pontoon we will be operating from it, will be limited to able participants, it’s a long way down from the pontoon deck to get into and out of our dinghies. At least come and have a look, especially if you might like to volunteer with us!
