Joymamma Carrie Jeff Doula HBCE Hi, my name is Carrie Jeff. I am a birth doula and owner of Joymamma on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland.

Another Pregnancy Yoga Teacher training has come to an end.

These 6 amazing women are about to head out into the world and share the goodness of yoga, breathwork and meditation with women as they journey through pregnancy, birth and motherhood. Just a few assignments to complete, then they can apply to become a Registered Prenatal Yoga Teacher (RPYT) with Yoga Alliance.

My next training starts 12 Sept .... you will be trained to TEACH - not just learn. It's vital to me that students leave this training to lead and guide with confidence.

There are just 4 places left for the September training. Joymamma is a Yoga Alliance Registered Prenatal Yoga School - so you can be assured the syllabus has been scrutinised thoroughly by senior teachers and educators.

Please get in touch if you'd like more info.

How can HypnoBirthing help you after birth? HypnoBirthing will not only prepare you for birth, but it will ease you into the intensity of becoming a mother. You will learn to relax and centre yourself for even the most chaotic situations. This is the same reason why HypnoBirthing is so successful, because women who practice the techniques are conditioning their mind and body to reach a level of calm and relaxation amidst their birthing time, no matter what turn their birthing takes.

Mothers go through a lot of changes after giving birth. It is important that you prepare physically and emotionally for these changes. HypnoBirthing allows for real-life applications to take care of yourself and your baby better. ✨

There were times during 2020 that I thought the Teacher Training program I created was going to be cancelled/postponed due to the restrictions that affected so many other states and countries. In Queensland we have been lucky - and safe. I am so grateful that I was able to get this going and have received some beautiful words from Pregnancy Yoga Teacher Training graduate Carly.

If you love pregnancy, babies and birth this training could set you up for a rewarding new career. This year's training dates are on the website. Early Bird closes 28 Feb 2021.

"Joymamma's Pregnancy Yoga Teacher Training was incredible. I am as bold to say it is the best YTT I have done. I'm normally pretty good at offering improvements, however small, but I'm finding it so hard for this training.

I think that speaks volumes to Carrie's understanding of women who need yoga during one of the most vulnerable times of their lives. Read more ......

Coming home after a chilled 5 days away celebrating Christmas a little differently this year.

Whilst classes don't start back until early Jan, I shall be getting back to emails, updating course content and seeing to many other behind-the-scenes tasks that need to be done to keep the business flowing.

If you have any enquiries, email them through. 2021 is looking set to be a busy year for me and I've promised myself a little more time off to enjoy more of our incredible Qld backyard!!!

2020 classes at Joymamma are finished!

Today was spent with a beautiful couple as they came to the end of their private HypnoBirthing course with me. A midwife herself .... planning a homebirth for the arrival of her first child, although familiar with her clinical role in hospital - now time to move away from that role and journey within.

It's an absolute honour to guide professionals through a different aspect of their job and to bring home how sacred birth is.

We chose private classes as he is a shiftworker, now home and ready for his role. A loving man who embraced the science behind birth and understands what a woman's body is capable of.

Now, I take time for me and my family.

2020 has been huge but amazing. I got outside of my comfort zone and taught online classes, made yoga videos and launched NurtureMum online postnatal program. I wrote a Teacher Training syllabus and certified my first group of Pregnancy Yoga teachers. I closed my studio and have no regrets.

Life is always teaching us. Keep moving forward, love those close to you and trust that things will work out.

I am so grateful for all the women I've met this year .... thank you for choosing me to be a part of your journey.

Holidays tomorrow ..... looking forward to re-charging and being with the ones I love most πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸŒ²πŸŒ΄πŸŒž

Little yogi babe
You practiced yoga during my classes for 7 months in my belly, our hearts beating together, our breath flowing together. Me as the teacher.
When I look into your eyes, I know you have been here before, an old soul, who has it all figured out already. And now it is you who is my greatest teacher.

** TEACH PREGNANCY YOGA **

Want to learn to teach Pregnancy Yoga safely - and WHY a pregnant yoga student should never put her head lower than her heart? Yep, that's right, no Downward Facing Dogs in our classes, but a half dog like in the picture offers the same amount of goodness.

It's vital that women practice SAFELY during their pregnancy and you can be the one to guide them!

If you have a 200 or 350 hour Yoga Teacher qualification, this training course fulfils the 85-hour Yoga Alliance training requirement to become a Registered Prenatal Yoga Teacher (RPYT).

Midwives, doulas, childbirth educators and other holistic practitioners can also attend this training to incorporate the knowledge into their pre and postnatal support packages.

OR ... if you are passionate about pregnancy and birth and have an existing yoga practice and intend to complete your yoga teacher training, this training will inspire you to build a rewarding and enjoyable career for yourself.

Held at Kondalilla Eco Resort on the Sunshine Coast, numbers will be limited to ensure full support and guidance from myself.

RPYTs may be eligible to join Joymamma's teaching team.

BECOME A PREGNANCY YOGA TEACHER!!

We begin our training next month!!!

PREGNANCY YOGA TEACHER TRAINING
23 - 27 SEPT 2020
4 SPACES LEFT

Birth, she is dying.

This primal and unspeakably powerful initiation, the only road to motherhood for our ancestors, has been stripped of her dignity and purpose in our times. Birth has become a dangerous medical disease to be treated with escalating levels, and types, of technological interventions.

We live in a society where new mothers have unprecedented levels of distress and depression, and where our babies, with their colic, reflux, and sleep problems, are also having their distress medically treated. We live in a society where depression and anxiety are among the largest burdens of disease worldwide.

Giving birth is a huge event, emotionally and physically, and will make demands on the body equivalent to, for example, running a marathon. But when a woman feels confident in her body, well supported, and able to express herself without inhibition, the pain that she may feel can become bearable, and just one part of the process. She can then respond instinctively with her own resources, including her most basic and accessible tools: breath, sound, and movement.

Birth has become a dispassionate medical event, usually occurring in a setting that discourages emotional expression.

We need to learn the more subtle β€” yet equally powerful β€” path of surrender. For modern women, difficulty with surrender may reflect a lack of confidence in our bodies. This is not surprising when our society is distrustful of the natural order in general, and women’s bodies in particular.

In surrendering to birth, we learn to be truly present to what is, and we can discover more about our role on the Earth. We are not the rulers or architects of creation. Life comes through us, with the most ease and grace, when we simply allow it.

Birth is dying, but, like cells in her body, we each have the power to enliven her and to resurrect her in all her glory. What is needed, I believe, is the passion, love, surrender, and power that we collectively generate as we birth our babies, however it unfolds.

And in healing birth, we are healing ourselves, our babies and the Earth.

I am able to support just TWO more couples this month. HypnoBirthing starts on Saturday 25 July. The official program will run for 5 consecutive weeks, but you will have my support right up until birth - including specialised 3rd trimester yoga classes (valued at over $300).

I'd be honoured to share the journey with you.

With love, Carrie πŸ’œ

MALASANA ... DEEP YOGA SQUAT

Malasana is a fantastic pose to open the pelvis, strengthen the legs and ease lower back pain. However, when a woman is approaching her due date, some cautions need to be made.

In my classes I don't offer Malasana past 34 weeks unless it is supported with a block or bolster (and of course never if the student doesn't know baby's position, or in the case of low lying placenta or pelvic instability.)

Depending on the student's flexibility, the pose can close the pelvic outlet - if done with a posterior tilt. I recommend women bring hips only to knee height (heels on a rolled blanket is good) then I will observe their pelvic tilt. If looking posterior I tell them don't go any deeper.

Posterior tilting of the pelvis may close the pelvic outlet, but can open the pelvic inlet - so good for getting a baby to engage, but not for getting a baby out.

Also, the positioning of the feet in Malasana - toes out (as pictured) reduces baby's much needed space in the pelvis.

It's important for women to learn this during their pregnancy, but vital that Yoga Teachers express this in such a way as not to overwhelm or confuse women and create anxiety at this time.

I'll be sharing all that I've learnt over my years of teaching and observing women at birth in my upcoming Pregnancy Yoga Teacher Training in September.

EARLY BIRD CLOSES 30 JUNE !!
