Whether you’re dressing up, decorating the house, or handing out treats, take a moment to enjoy the laughter and light around you. 💜

Here’s what’s happening nearby:

🏡 Visit 139 Springfield Avenue, West Moonah between 4:00–8:00 PM on 31 Oct — haunted display + trick-or-treat fun.

🎶 Dress up and dance at the Spooky Halloween Disco in Moonah — costume prizes and fun for all ages.

🕺 For a late-night dance with a spooky twist, Judy’s Halloween Ball in Hobart is on 31 October.

🎪 For Mirrabooka, keep tabs on Mirrabooka Community Markets — sometimes the spookiness finds a way in!

🌱 Unplug to Reconnect
This week, try putting your phone down for 10 minutes — and really notice.

Notice what your hands do.
Notice how fast your mind wants to check something.
Notice the stillness that’s in between.

That in-between moment? That’s mindfulness.

While you do, you might like to:
• Visit the Women’s Expo at Moonah Arts Centre (free event, community & wellbeing focus)
• Pop into a workshop or music event at Moonah Arts Centre — there’s always something creative happening
• Explore local community events in Mirrabooka via Eventbrite or Humanitix

Let this week be about presence, local connection, and noticing life’s quiet gifts. 💛

🌸 Celebrating Tihar & Chhath Festival 🌸

This week, we join our Nepalese community in celebrating Tihar — Nepal’s beautiful Festival of Lights. 🪔✨
Tihar celebrates love, light, and respect for all living beings — from crows and dogs to cows and family. Homes are decorated with oil lamps and colourful rangoli, symbolising happiness, gratitude, and harmony.

Later this month, communities will also come together for Chhath, a festival dedicated to the Sun God, where families offer prayers at rivers and lakes, thanking the sun for sustaining life and seeking health and prosperity. ☀️

At More Opportunities, we’re proud to be part of such a diverse and inclusive community, where we share and learn from one another’s traditions, values, and celebrations every day. 💛

Wishing everyone celebrating Tihar and Chhath a joyful, peaceful, and light-filled festival season!

🌟 Happy Diwali from More Opportunities! 🌟

Today we celebrate Diwali — the Festival of Lights, a time that symbolises the triumph of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil. 🪔✨

Diwali is a beautiful reminder of hope, renewal, and togetherness. As families and friends come together to share sweets, light lamps, and exchange blessings, we reflect on the joy of community and connection.

At More Opportunities, we feel so lucky to be part of such a diverse and inclusive community — one where we learn from one another’s cultures, stories, and celebrations every day. 💛

Wishing everyone celebrating a joyful and peaceful Diwali filled with light, laughter, and love.

🌿 Mindfulness Monday 🌿

Theme: “Notice the little things.”

As October winds down, it’s a beautiful time to pay attention to the small details that bring joy, calm, and gratitude. 🌸

🌱 Daily Micro-Practices

Monday: Start your week by noticing 3 small details in your surroundings you often overlook.

Tuesday: Pause before eating and take one mindful bite, really tasting your food.

Wednesday: Choose a colour (e.g. green) and spot it throughout your day.

Thursday: Take a 2-minute pause to notice your breath without changing it.

Friday: Acknowledge one kind action you gave or received today.

Saturday: Listen closely to a song, noticing the layers of sound.

Sunday: Reflect on one “little thing” from your week that made you smile.

💭 The little things often turn out to be the big things. What detail will you notice today?

💚 World Mental Health Day 💚

This week is Mental Health Week — an important time to pause, reflect, and remind ourselves that mental health is just as vital as physical health. At More Opportunities, we believe that supporting wellbeing means creating safe spaces where people feel respected, included, and empowered. 🌿

✨ Mental Health Week highlights the importance of:
✔️ Raising awareness and breaking stigma.
✔️ Encouraging open conversations.
✔️ Supporting each other through small but meaningful actions.

Today, on World Mental Health Day, let’s take a moment to check in with ourselves and those around us. Sometimes the simplest things — a chat, a walk, or showing kindness — can make the biggest difference. 💙

If you or someone you know needs support:
📞 Lifeline: 13 11 14
📞 Beyond Blue: 1300 22 4636

Together, we can build communities of care, hope, and opportunity. 🌟
