💪 Gym users – friendly reminder

To help keep our gym safe, welcoming and ready for the next person, please remember to:

✔️ Return equipment to where it belongs
✔️ Stack weights neatly after use
✔️ Wipe down and leave the gym tidy

Think of the tidying up and re-racking as a few extra gains at the end of your workout 😉

And if you’re the last one to leave, please don’t forget to turn off the lights and air-conditioning 💡❄️

💡 Got an idea to make life better for local young people here in Moora?

The FRRR ABC Heywire Youth Innovation Grants are now open, with up to $10,000 available to support youth-led ideas in regional communities like ours.

This could be things like:
👉 a youth space or program
👉 mental health or wellbeing activities
👉 skills workshops, mentoring or leadership projects
👉 events, creative projects or initiatives that help young people feel connected and heard

The key? Working with young people to design something that responds to a real local need.

Expressions of Interest are open 4 February – 11 March.

If you’ve ever thought “someone should do something about this” — this might be your chance.

👋 Welcome to the team, Tayla!

You may notice our manager Amy subtly lurking behind a plant 🌿 — a light-hearted nod to the fact that she first spotted Tayla’s “looking for work” post on Facebook and moved swiftly.

Rest assured, Tayla’s appointment as Community Development Officer was absolutely based on her strong professional experience, skills and passion for community — not just Amy’s excellent stalking instincts.

Fun fact: Tayla will begin a sentence with “quick question…” and then confidently deliver five. We’re big fans of a yapper. She’ll fit right in.

Tayla — we’re so glad to have you on board (and don't worry, Amy has been reminded about personal space).

🗣️ Got 5–8 minutes? We want your say.

If you’re 12–25 years old and live in Western Australia, there’s a quick survey you can fill out to help shape what a WA Multicultural Act could look like.

It’s your chance to say:
👉 do you think it’s a good idea?
👉 what should be included?
👉 what actually matters to young people?

✔️ 12 questions (mostly tick-a-box)
✔️ Takes about 5–8 minutes
✔️ Go in the draw to win one of two $100 gift cards 💸

Your responses will help YACWA and MYAN WA put together a submission to the Office of Multicultural Interests — so this is a real chance to be heard.

👉 Do the survey here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/3QHBZQN

or scan the QR code below 📲

⏰ Survey closes midnight, Thursday 4 February — don’t miss it!

Well, Moora, it’s our last screening for our Outdoor Movie Season (and almost time for the kids to go back to school – can you believe how fast it has gone?! 🥲), but fear not we’re making this last film a feel-good one!

Kangaroo (2025) is the kind of film that leaves you smiling, maybe even teary-eyed, and is perfect if you and your family want something wholesome and easy to watch.

Watch the trailer below and we’ll see you on the oval!

Where: Moora Oval
When: Saturday 31st, 7:30pm
Cost: FREE – just bring a blanket or some camp chairs to relax on.

Food and drinks will be provided by the Moora lion’s van for all your snacking needs. Please also be mindful of personal noise levels and others around you on the oval - we want everyone to enjoy the experience as much as possible ☺️

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.
