Hey, for those of you that don’t know me, I’m Carli, paediatric occupational therapist. My goal in my work, is centered around guiding the child, where they are accepted as who they are & empowered to be who they want to be. I’m also a woman, mother, conscious parent, spiritual being, business owner, single mom… but most importantly a neurodivergent thinker. For whatever reason society has deemed neurotypical the only socially accepted way to be & think & if your not inclined this way, you are considered “not normal” whatever that’s suppose to mean. You see this doesn’t quite work for a thinker like me or the unique individuals I work with. So this, it needs to change, this confined box of social thinking needs to be broken down & rebuilt with more depth & it starts with us, as parents & educators. Yesterday I was having a catch up with a parent I work with & she shared an incident earlier in the week with her daughter. Bullying… why… because her daughters are embraced to be who they are and choose (or sometimes don’t choose) to be & to be ok with not fitting within these “acceptable standards”. It’s stayed with me. So, I decided to embrace all of me & share it loud and proud because it’s me & my BLUE HAIR. I kinda feel like I’m channeling my inner mermaid or game of thrones queen over here … SO THIS IS FOR HER & all those other kids or adults who feel that they have been made to feel they can’t be themselves or been made to feel different, weird, “not normal”, or have stay small to fit in.
With my blue hair I make a choice to stand out, be loud, and be me. I advocate for you. Really, who cares. The most important thing is that you’re happy & love you!!🧜🏻‍♀️🧝🏻‍♀️
