Medicare Has Expanded Speech Pathology Support!

From the 1st of March, children and young people under 25 may now be eligible for more Medicare‑funded speech pathology sessions.

This update could make a real difference for children experiencing:

• Stuttering
• Difficulty being understood
• Persistent speech sound errors
• Childhood apraxia of speech or dysarthria
• Speech differences related to cleft lip and/or palate

What’s now available (up to age 25):

Up to 8 assessment sessions
Up to 20 therapy sessions
$87.25 rebate per eligible session

Early access to support strengthens confidence, participation, friendships and learning.

Alex Moussawer (Principal of Homebush PS) was quoted to say the Speech Pathology and OT programs were "worth every cent"
"It's an important investment in the equity of our students..."

Our very own Elizabeth Ware (AHP Speech Pathology Manager) was also quoted "Most of our students with behavioural issues tend to have receptive language difficulties" - supporting young language development is key to a successful future!

Our next Sounds‑Write course begins on the 11th of May!

This course will be led by Sounds-Write trainers who will be there to answer your questions, give feedback on the assignments when required and organise synchronous sessions on Zoom to support you during the course.
