Over the last 14 years, John has worked in the Department of Human Services (Centrelink) across various communities on the Mid North Coast as well as in remote Indigenous communities in the Northern Territory. Paula has a history of working in small business and most recently working with FACS (Family and Community Services/Community Housing), where she performed a number of roles supporting vulnerable people with their housing needs. We recognise there is a need within our local communities for tailored support packages for people with a range of disabilities. ๐Ÿ’š Our Teamโ€™s Mental Health Matters โ€” Always ๐Ÿ’š

Support work is incredibly rewardingโ€ฆ but letโ€™s be honest โ€” it can also be emotionally demanding, heavy at times, and not something you can always just โ€œswitch offโ€ from at the end of a shift.

At Coralville Care, we genuinely believe that you canโ€™t pour from an empty cup.
Thatโ€™s why the mental health and wellbeing of our team is not an afterthought โ€” itโ€™s a priority.

For this reason, we proudly offer free access to an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for all team members. With our co-founder John being a qualified social worker, we deeply understand how important it is for support workers to have someone safe, professional, and confidential to debrief with.

Every support worker should have:
โœ”๏ธ A space to talk things through
โœ”๏ธ Support when work feels heavy
โœ”๏ธ Someone who understands the emotional load of caring roles

Looking after others starts with looking after ourselves โ€” and we will always stand behind our team in that.

๐Ÿ’š You matter. Your wellbeing matters. And you never have to carry it alone.

This is exactly what is wrong with the NDIS today. ๐Ÿ˜ข

Twenty-two-year-old Noah Johnston, one of the most significantly disabled NDIS participants, died while fighting to restore 24/7 registered nursing support. His ventilator tube detached overnight, and no nurse was present to reconnect it. The NDIA had reduced funding despite medical warnings his life depended on it. Noah died during tribunal proceedings reviewing the decision, prompting fierce criticism from his family. Summary of Herald Sun article.

ID: A woman wearing a hat and sunglasses sits close to a young man in a wheelchair. She has her arm around him and is smiling at him warmly. The young man is smiling back and is wearing a blue hoodie with visible medical tubing connected to a tracheostomy. They appear to be outdoors on grass, sharing a moment of affection and connection.

๐ŸŒŸ Growing the next generation of amazing support workers ๐ŸŒŸ

We are so proud to share a little bit about Lexi, a wonderful young lady who is currently working with us while completing her Certificate III in Disability Support.

At Coralville Care, we strongly believe that how people enter this industry matters. Lexi is being provided with strong foundations, quality training, and real-world experience, so when she steps fully into the support worker role, she does so with the tools, confidence, and resilience needed to thrive โ€” and to provide truly great support.

๐Ÿ’š In the meantimeโ€ฆ
Lexi has been completing cleaning and household support shifts for participants and is doing an absolutely fantastic job. She is reliable, respectful, and takes real pride in her work.

๐Ÿงน Availability โ€“ NDIS Cleaning / Household Duties
Lexi has a small number of remaining spots available for cleaning and household support. If youโ€™ve been struggling to find a reliable, consistent cleaner for NDIS participants, please reach out.

โœ”๏ธ We invoice correctly under Household Tasks / Household Duties
โœ”๏ธ Not support work (as is unfortunately often done incorrectly)
โœ”๏ธ Fully compliant and transparent

If youโ€™d like to secure one of Lexiโ€™s remaining spots or chat about household support for your clients, send us a message ๐Ÿ“ฉ

We love supporting both our participants and the future of our workforce ๐Ÿ’ซ

Coaching isnโ€™t just about business growth โ€” itโ€™s about doing things better, with purpose ๐Ÿ’ญ

Through coaching, weโ€™re able to reflect on how Coralville Care operates, how we support our team, and how we continue to meet the needs of our participants.

Itโ€™s one of the ways we stay intentional, accountable, and aligned with the values that matter most.

The Story Behind Our Logo

When Coralville Care first began, we used a fairly simple, generic logoโ€”just something to get us started. But as our business grew, so did our sense of identity. We knew we wanted our branding to better reflect who we are, what we stand for, and the people we support.

The logo we have today was created with real meaning behind every element:

๐ŸŒˆ The colours โ€“ Bright and bold, they represent the neurodiversity of our participants, especially the many individuals we support with Autism Spectrum Disorder. These colours reflect joy, individuality, and inclusionโ€”core values at the heart of everything we do.

๐ŸŒŠ The waves โ€“ Youโ€™ll notice two flowing wave shapes that also form the letter C, symbolising Coralville Care. But theyโ€™re more than just initialsโ€”they also represent our love for the ocean and water, something deeply personal to us and many of our participants, and reflective of our early days running inclusive aquatic programs.

๐Ÿ˜Š The smiling faces โ€“ These cheerful icons are simple, but powerful. They remind us of what itโ€™s all about: happy participants, happy team members, and a community that feels connected, supported, and seen.

And as for the name Coralvilleโ€”it comes from the name of the street where our journey began, right in our local community. Itโ€™s a small detail, but one that grounds us in our purpose and reminds us that homegrown care is at the centre of what we do.

Running a care-based business means constantly learning, reflecting, and improving ๐Ÿ’™

Thatโ€™s why ongoing coaching plays an important role behind the scenes at Coralville Care.

Being involved in coaching allows us to strengthen leadership, improve systems, and make thoughtful decisions that support both our team and the people we care for. When leaders grow, the whole organisation benefits.

๐ŸŒฟ Welcome to the Coralville Care family, Melanie! ๐ŸŒฟ

Weโ€™re so excited to officially welcome Melanie to Coralville Care as she begins an exciting new chapter in her career ๐Ÿ‘

Born and bred in the Camden Haven, Melanie is a true local at heart and brings with her strong community values and a genuine love for people.

This year, Melanie is completing her Certificate III in Disability Support and will be undertaking her practical placement under the supervision of two of our experienced team members who also hold their Cert III. Following this, weโ€™re thrilled that Melanie will be joining our team ongoing โ€“ we love growing and nurturing local talent ๐Ÿ’š

Although new to the support work industry, Melanie comes with the most important qualities of all: heart, empathy, and a real desire to make a difference.

In her own words, even something as small as making someone smile can change their whole day โ€“ and we couldnโ€™t agree more. Kindness truly does go a long way.

Outside of work, Melanie is a busy wife and mum to three beautiful children and loves spending time together as a family. She enjoys a good book, all kinds of music, the beach, and the great outdoors. She has a passion for cooking and baking, is famously organised (need a trip planned? Melanieโ€™s your girl ๐Ÿ˜‰), loves the gym, and has recently discovered a love for health and fitness. Sheโ€™s also a huge animal lover and a proud pet mum to two cats and two boxers ๐Ÿพ

Weโ€™re so proud to support Melanie on her journey into the disability sector and canโ€™t wait to watch her grow into an incredible support worker.

Welcome to the team, Melanie โ€“ weโ€™re so glad youโ€™re here ๐Ÿ’šโœจ

๐ŸŒŸ Meet Our Support Worker โ€“ Nicole Jackson ๐ŸŒŸ

Nicole is originally from Sydney and has been proudly calling Port Macquarie home since 1995. With over 10 years of experience in aged care and 5 years supporting people with disability, Nicole brings both skill and heart to everything she does.

What Nicole loves most about her work is knowing sheโ€™s made a difference โ€” even in the smallest ways. โ€œSometimes the little things count,โ€ she says, especially when it means putting a smile on someoneโ€™s face.

Outside of work, Nicole loves the great outdoors, spending her spare time camping and enjoying the water.

Weโ€™re grateful to have compassionate, experienced team members like Nicole supporting our participants and community ๐Ÿ’™

๐ŸŒฟ A Coralville Care milestone moment ๐ŸŒฟ

In an industry that is predominantly casual โ€” simply due to the ever-changing nature of shifts and support needs โ€” today we are so excited to announce something truly special.

Harry Harris will go down in Coralville Care history as our very first permanent team member. ๐ŸŽ‰

Harry was one of our very first hires, and from day one he has been one of our finest. He is deeply valued by every person he supports and equally respected and appreciated by his fellow team members.

This milestone represents more than just a change in employment status.
It reflects Harryโ€™s commitment to Coralville Care and our commitment to him โ€” to stability, recognition, and doing things differently in a sector where good people deserve to feel secure and valued.

We couldnโ€™t be happier, prouder, or more grateful to have you on this journey with us, Harry. ๐Ÿ’š
From little things, big things truly do grow.

โœจ Please join us in congratulating Harry on this well-earned milestone โœจ
