🌻 Not all disability support is the same. And the difference can change someone’s entire day.

A truly great support worker does much more than help with tasks. They understand how to support independence, respect choices, communicate effectively, and create a safe, empowering environment.

Good support means:
🌻 Encouraging independence, not taking over
🌻 Respecting the person’s rights and choices
🌻 Recognising when someone needs extra support
🌻 Building confidence and life skills

Being a disability support worker isn’t “just a job.” It takes patience, emotional intelligence, skill, and ongoing learning to do it well.

And the truth is, the person who walks through the door to provide support can completely shape someone’s experience that day.

A great support worker can help someone feel capable, confident, and included in their community.

So, here’s the question 👇

What qualities do you think make an amazing disability support worker?

(Participants, families, and support workers - we’d love to hear your thoughts.) 💛

Ever feel like social situations can be a little overwhelming? You’re definitely not alone.

Social skills - things like starting conversations, reading social cues, working in a team, and building friendships - don’t always come naturally to everyone. The good news is that these skills can be learned and strengthened over time.

With the right support, people can build confidence, develop stronger connections, and feel more comfortable in social settings. Whether it’s through community activities, one-on-one support, or guided social experiences, having encouragement along the way can make a huge difference.

At With A Little Care, we support participants to get out into the community, build confidence, and develop the social and daily living skills that help them feel more independent and connected.

From social outings and shared activities to practical support and skill-building, our focus is always on creating safe, supportive spaces where people can grow at their own pace.

💬 What’s something that helps you feel more confident in social situations?

Inclusive events matter more than people realise. 💛

For many people living with disability, finding spaces that are truly welcoming, accessible, and supportive can make all the difference.

Inclusive events create opportunities to connect with others, build confidence, learn new skills, and feel part of the community — not left on the sidelines.

When accessibility is considered from the beginning (things like mobility access, clear communication, supportive environments, and transport options), more people can participate comfortably and confidently.

At With A Little Care, we believe everyone deserves the chance to take part in community life in ways that feel safe, supportive, and empowering.

✨ Because inclusion isn’t just about access — it’s about belonging.

What makes an event feel truly inclusive to you or someone you support?

Support with daily life isn’t about taking away independence - it’s about making independence possible.

For many people living with disability, everyday tasks can take extra time, energy, or support. Things like cooking meals, keeping the house organised, getting to appointments, or managing personal care.

The right support can help make those things easier, while still keeping choice and control in your hands.

Good support should always be built around you:
✔ your routines
✔ your goals
✔ your preferences
✔ your pace

When people have the right support in place, it can mean less stress, more confidence, and more time for the things that bring joy and connection.

Because everyone deserves the chance to live a life that feels full, independent, and supported. 💛

What’s one small thing that makes your day-to-day life easier?
It could help someone else to hear it. 👇

3 years ago today! 💛🐴

As you can see, we had a HUGE weekend!
We proudly sponsored the EWD Equestrians with Disabilities High Point award at Burpengary Western Performance Club Inc.‘s jackpot show this weekend, and we’d love to present to you our winner! Cate Jefferis and her beautiful little mare, Queenie, showed and rode flawlessly all weekend and as you can see, they cleaned up!

Between two judges, they placed:
- 2nd and 2nd in Showmanship
- 2nd and 1st in Western Trail
- 1st and 1st in Horsemanship
- 1st and 1st in Hunt Seat Equitation
- 1st in Western Dressage with the overall highest percentage scored in dressage all round (this wasn’t an EWD class!)

We were so very pleased to present Cate with more ribbons than we can count, a personalised embroidered bridle bag, and a stunning trophy buckle. We are so proud of Cate for her efforts this weekend and we can’t wait to support her at the next show in May!

Support shouldn’t start after a diagnosis.

For many people, a diagnosis takes years - if it happens at all.

Long waitlists.
Limited access to assessments.
Outdated stereotypes.
And sometimes, people simply don’t feel safe sharing it.

But the need for understanding, flexibility, and support exists long before paperwork does.

Adjustments help people participate, communicate, and live well - diagnosis or not.

Support should meet people where they are. 💛
