🚨 Viral Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye) Alert 👀
We’re seeing a spike in viral conjunctivitis in the community. It’s uncomfortable but usually doesn’t cause long-term vision issues.
Symptoms: red, itchy or gritty eyes, watery/crusty discharge, light sensitivity, tearing, sometimes cold-like symptoms.
🦠Highly contagious – spreads via hands, towels, makeup and shared surfaces. You can be contagious for 10–14 days while symptoms last.
💧 Treatment: cool compresses and preservative-free lubricating drops. Antibiotics won’t help viral conjunctivitis.
đź‘“ Contact lens wearers: stop lenses immediately and only restart once fully resolved and cleared by your optometrist.
🧼 Prevention: wash hands, avoid touching eyes, don’t share towels or eye products, replace eye makeup.
If symptoms aren’t improving within 24 hours, book an eye check.
