A few months ago we were lucky enough to be approached by Brand Tasmania to produce a Tasmanian Story about us, and how Alluvium Water Cremations came to be.

This was such a special experience — to pause and reflect on why we started, what drives us, and the unique Tasmanian values that shape our approach. From the beginning, our vision has been simple: to provide families with a gentle, sustainable choice for farewelling loved ones, while honouring both the care of that person and family, and the environment.

We’re incredibly proud to share this story and grateful to Tasmanian for capturing not just what we do, but who we are.

It was a big weekend with Beaker Street, sharing options around death and dying in Tasmania. We were humbled by the turnout at our event, where people came with such openness and curiosity. A little more theatrical than our usual Transparency Tours - and we can’t wait to do more, so stay tuned!
All ticket sales from our event went to Palliative Care Tasmania, which is such a critical service for Tasmanians and we're proud to be able to support them.

It's been twelve months, today, since we were able to open our doors and invite Tasmanian families to bring us into their worlds; those invitations started from only a couple of days after we opened, and haven't stopped or slowed since.

To those families who invited us into their grief, and their unknowing, and their uncertainty, and asked us to walk alongside them. You know who you are, and so do we. Always.

Thank you.

And from Brendan and I, to the partners and small people who have been behind us, holding us, supporting us, and believing that we could manage this all. Always.

It’s difficult to know how to speak about this, so like we always do, we’ll just speak openly and transparently. Be aware this post is about miscarriage and infant loss, so if today isn’t the day for thinking about that, please feel okay with scrolling past.

We’ve spoken about how proud we are of the gentle nature of water cremation, and there is nothing that demonstrates this more than when we are supporting families and their fragile, precious loved ones. For many who experience miscarriage or infant loss, it can be hard to grieve due to the nature of the processes available up until now leaving little, if any, ashes for a family to hold and remember.

For those little lives gone far too soon, Alluvium Water Cremations are honoured to be able to support you with a gentle, dignified, and transparent choice to bring your little one home and remember them in a way that makes sense to you.

It was a real honour to speak with so many curious, thoughtful, and generous people yesterday at North West Ecofest Tasmania. We will be back today to chat, although due to the prospective weather and our own lack of foresight in bringing shelter, you'll now find us in The Stadium.
