“Can we have a funeral with another funeral home and still have a water cremation?”

This is a question we are asked often — and the answer is absolutely yes.

Water cremation is available regardless of which funeral home you choose. Any funeral director can work with Alluvium to offer this option to families.

Whether you’re planning a traditional funeral, memorial service, private goodbye, or something entirely personal, water cremation can still be part of that farewell.

The choice is always yours.

At Alluvium, we don’t offer pre-paid services. We refuse to.

Taking your money today for a promise tomorrow doesn't align with us. We provide water cremations as affordably as possible, every day, because we know that death doesn't have to cost the earth.

Peace of mind doesn't require a financial lock-in. It requires a plan.

That's why we created a 'Pre-Need' register, costing nothing other than your time and thought. Record your wishes today, so your family won't have to guess later. No hidden fees or locked-away cash—just transparency and care for Tasmanian families.

If this resonates, you might consider sharing with others. We all do better when difficult conversations are made simple.

Offering families the choice to care for their deceased in a manner that reflects the values they had in life is one small way we begin to weave a tapestry of meaning around the deaths of those we love.

"But what if meaning's not hidden? What if it's not something to find? What if that's not the story? What if the story is that meaning is not found at all, but that it's made."

A few months ago we were lucky enough to be approached by Brand Tasmania to produce a Tasmanian Story about us, and how Alluvium Water Cremations came to be.

This was such a special experience — to pause and reflect on why we started, what drives us, and the unique Tasmanian values that shape our approach. From the beginning, our vision has been simple: to provide families with a gentle, sustainable choice for farewelling loved ones, while honouring both the care of that person and family, and the environment.

We’re incredibly proud to share this story and grateful to Tasmanian for capturing not just what we do, but who we are.

It was a big weekend with Beaker Street, sharing options around death and dying in Tasmania. We were humbled by the turnout at our event, where people came with such openness and curiosity. A little more theatrical than our usual Transparency Tours - and we can’t wait to do more, so stay tuned!
All ticket sales from our event went to Palliative Care Tasmania, which is such a critical service for Tasmanians and we're proud to be able to support them.

A farewell as natural as Tasmania itself.
At Alluvium, we use water — not flame — to return your loved one gently to the earth. It’s a process as peaceful as a misty morning in the Huon or the waves lapping a quiet beach on the East Coast.

Locally owned. Environmentally kind.
Water cremation, right here in Tasmania. 💧
