Interesting article on some of the risks associated to using AI chatbots for mental health purposes or a substitute for professional therapy.

Many clients describe initially having a happy childhood in therapy. It’s only later that the real truth unfolds. Childhood trauma is not only caused by verbal, physical or sexual abuse. It can be caused by the absence of emotional safety and nurturing. By being emotionally neglected and invalidated. It’s important to acknowledge and heal these wounds to experience wholeness and vitality.

Psychologists and the AAPi continue the campaign to increase the number of yearly visits to see a psychologist under Medicare.

Ten sessions are not enough.

Most Australians can’t overcome complex trauma in ten psychology sessions – sometimes, it takes that long just to build trust.

Let clinical need, not funding caps, decide how long someone receives care.

Join us in calling for a return to 20 Medicare-funded sessions per year. Psychology isn’t a luxury, it’s essential care.

Recent article on the ongoing mental health crisis affecting millions of Australians and the government's (lack?) of response. Looks like Victoria only has ONE of these new Medicare Mental Health Centres and its in Geelong. Further investigation seems to suggest that this centre offers coaching and peer support which is NOT the same as professional psychological treatment. Please consider signing the petition mentioned at the bottom of the article if you believe in the importance of quality mental health care for Australians.

Experts warn Australians are hitting “crisis point” with claims caps on Medicare-rebated psychology care are robbing people of the chance to improve and manage their mental health.
