Happy International Women's Day! We were privileged to attend the International Women’s Day Breakfast hosted by the Rotary Club of Frankston Mt Eliza and Rotary in Rosebud-Rye.

It was an inspiring morning centred on this year’s theme, Give to Gain, with powerful insights from Sally Capp and Patricia Terrill, alongside reflections from Rotary leaders on service and community impact.

We were honoured to host extraordinary women and supporters on our table, whose generosity and leadership are making a meaningful difference to patient care at The Bays and helping to strengthen our community.

A special thanks to The Rotary Club of Mornington for giving us the opportunity to provide gift bags for 300 attendees this year, for generously donating products for the bags and GX Bags for producing beautiful quality zip pouches for our goodies to go in. www.gxbags.com.au

At The Bays, we see the strength of women every day - as patients, clinicians, leaders and advocates.

This International Women’s Day, we thank the women and allies whose generosity enables us to continue delivering high-quality, compassionate healthcare to our community as a not-for-profit hospital. When we give, we all gain - stronger communities and better health for the region we serve.

Today we celebrated Hospitality Workers in Healthcare Day at our hospital, recognising the people who keep everyone fed, fuelled and feeling cared for - from patients and visitors to our own staff.

From early morning meal prep to thoughtfully plating dinners that meet complex dietary and cultural needs, our hospitality team brings skill, care and quiet kindness to every tray. Their work supports healing in ways that are not always seen, but are deeply felt.

To say thank you, we turned the tables with a special lunch and time together to celebrate them. A small gesture to acknowledge the very big impact they make across our hospital community.

Your consistency, compassion and teamwork do not go unnoticed. Thank you for helping make our hospital feel cared for, not just cared in. 💙

10/02/2026

When Noeleen Denby welcomed her second child at The Bays, she carried both excitement and apprehension. Her first birth, in another hospital, had ended in an emergency caesarean and a difficult recovery, leaving her feeling unsupported at a time when she needed care the most. This time, she wanted something different: continuity of care, a calm and safe environment, and space to heal both physically and emotionally.

Originally from Ireland, Noeleen and her partner have lived in Melbourne for more than a decade. Their five-year-old daughter had been eagerly awaiting a sibling, and this birth marked a deeply meaningful moment for their growing family.

Throughout her pregnancy and birth, Noeleen felt genuinely supported under the care of Dr Natalie Elphinstone and the midwifery team. She describes feeling heard, listened to, and reassured, with a team she could trust. The calm, confident care she received helped her feel safe during one of the most vulnerable moments of her life.

“Most importantly, the experience made me feel safe,” Noeleen says. “The continuity of care and trusting the people around me made all the difference.”

After a previous birth where she felt powerless, having autonomy this time mattered deeply. At The Bays, Noeleen was given clear information and professional guidance without pressure, allowing her to make informed decisions and feel like an active participant in her care.

Her stay was nurturing and restorative, combining the comfort of a private environment with the reassurance of a highly skilled medical team always close by. That sense of safety stayed with her when she returned home with her newborn, confident and supported as her family settled into life together.

For Noeleen, knowing The Bays is a not-for-profit hospital makes this experience even more meaningful because she knows that every dollar is reinvested back into the hospital - strengthening facilities, upgrading equipment, and directly benefiting the local community and the families who rely on its care.

“All women deserve this kind of care when they give birth,” she says. “Supporting not-for-profit hospitals like The Bays helps make that possible.”

Your donation helps ensure more families can experience the same safe, compassionate and patient-centred care.
