🎨 ArtCare at The Bays

We’re delighted to feature the beautiful work of local artist Catherine De Boise as part of our ArtCare Program - an initiative that brings art, colour, and calm to our hospital spaces.

Catherine’s serene coastal landscapes capture the ever-changing light of the Mornington Peninsula, offering moments of peace and reflection for patients, families, and staff alike.

As part of this exhibition, Catherine is generously donating a percentage of her artwork sales to The Bays. As a not-for-profit hospital, we’re deeply grateful for her support - and for the many artists who help us continue to care for our community in such meaningful ways.

🚐 Marjorie the BreastScreen Bus is here!

BreastScreen Victoria’s mobile screening van has arrived at The Bays Cancer Care Centre and will be here until 10 December - offering free, potentially life-saving breast screens.

For women aged 50–74, having a breast screen every two years is the best way to detect cancer early, when treatment is most effective.

At The Bays, we offer personalised, community-focused care. Our emphasis on longer stays and low-risk care enables our midwives to build meaningful relationships with patients and families.

Our small, dedicated team fosters a collaborative, close-knit culture where midwives are valued, supported and recognised for their contributions.

Our midwives are empowered to practice to the full scope of their role, contributing to high-quality care in the birth suite, postnatally and in the special care nursery.

We have both part-time and casual roles available for midwives who want to be part of a team that enhances job satisfaction while supporting better outcomes for mothers and babies.

Last week, members of the Mornington View Club joined us for a behind-the-scenes tour of our Cancer Care Centre, hosted by our CEO Jade Phelan alongside Dr David Blakey and Khaled Azar from Icon.

After seeing our Varian TrueBeam linear accelerator in action - the advanced technology delivering precise radiation therapy for all cancer types - guests enjoyed afternoon tea in the Community Bank Mount Martha Wellness Centre.

We love opening our doors to local groups and sharing the incredible care happening right here on the Peninsula 💛

This morning at The Bays Cancer Care Centre, we came together to launch Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a heartwarming morning tea for past and current breast cancer patients 💕

The event was filled with connection, reflection, and inspiration:
🎤 Radiation Oncologist Dr Maree Sexton spoke about the importance of breast screening and early detection in improving outcomes, and how advances in medical research have made breast cancer increasingly curable, offering a powerful message of hope.
🎤 Angela Cahill, Icon’s first radiotherapy patient at The Bays, bravely shared her story of courage, self-advocacy, and community, reminding us of the strength that shines through shared experience.
🌷 Mini Field of Pink Ladies – Guests planted pink ladies in our courtyard garden, leaving personal tributes and heartfelt messages of hope and support.
💌 ‘One Piece of Advice’ Board – Words of wisdom and encouragement were shared by fellow patients, with the board remaining on display in the foyer throughout October.
☕ Morning tea & catch-ups – Everyone enjoyed a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere over delicious treats and meaningful conversation.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us and our McGrath Breast Care Nurses, Rachel and Megan for organising it – it was a beautiful morning to celebrate journeys, reflect, and connect with such an incredible, supportive community. 💖
