Today, on International Day of the Midwife, we pause to recognise and celebrate the extraordinary midwives at The Bays and across the world.

Your skill, compassion, and calm presence guide families through some of life’s most profound moments. From pregnancy to birth and those first precious days after, you provide care that is both clinically expert and deeply human.

You support, reassure, advocate, and nurture - often all at once - and you do it with unwavering dedication.

Thank you for the difference you make every single day. You truly embody The Bays Difference. 💜

🎨 Final week to view Jan Salmon’s Art at The Bays - Now with 30-40% off

There’s just one week left to enjoy the beautiful works of local artist Jan Salmon on display at The Bays - and to celebrate the final days of her exhibition, Jan has generously offered 30-40% off all paintings until Sunday, 11 May.

Inspired by the colours and landscapes of the Mornington Peninsula, Jan’s pieces bring warmth, nature and calm to our hospital corridors - and now is the perfect time to take one home. Might even make the perfect Mother's Day gift!

Every artwork sold through The Bays Artcare Program helps raise vital funds to support patient care, so your purchase makes a difference in more ways than one.

If you’re visiting The Bays for an appointment, scan or blood test, take a moment to explore Jan’s collection in the main corridor before it’s gone. 🖼️

Come along to an important evening of conversation, connection and awareness at the Community Bank Mt Martha Wellness Centre.

This free community event is designed to raise awareness, share knowledge and encourage earlier conversations about ovarian cancer.

Held on Tuesday 20 May at 6.30pm, the evening is being organised by Susan Young in honour of her best friend Michelle, who was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer last year.

Guests will hear about the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer, the importance of listening to your body, and why early attention matters. The evening will also feature insights from the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation, Australia’s leading independent funder of ovarian cancer research, along with a lived experience perspective.

It is a valuable opportunity to learn more, ask questions and connect with others in a supportive and informative setting.

Today, we’re celebrating the people who keep everything moving.

On Administrative Professionals Day, we’re recognising the incredible admin teams whose work keeps our organisation running smoothly every day.

Across HR, Finance, Communications, Fundraising, Supply and Community Engagement, our admin professionals are the steady hands behind the scenes - solving problems, keeping things on track and making sure the details are never missed.

From welcoming visitors and supporting patients to processing payroll and managing the day-to-day, your work is essential, and so deeply appreciated.

To say thank you, we came together to celebrate our admin teams with a barbecue lunch and a well-earned pause in the day. 💛

Thank you for all that you do.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our donors and community, our Nurse and Midwife Education Fund continues to grow its impact.

Since its launch in 2023, and with the The Rotary Club of Mornington as our founding partner, the program has raised $98,451, enabling advanced training for nurses and midwives so they can continue delivering exceptional care to our community.

This has been made possible through the continued support of the Rotary Club of Mornington, Rotary Mt Eliza, Rotary Mt Martha, alongside generous individual donors and our 88K in a Day birthday fundraiser.

🎓 Impact to date
• $71,845 already invested in education and training
• 99 nurses and midwives supported
• 20+ specialised courses, conferences and workshops delivered

Training has included critical care nursing, perinatal mental health, neonatal outreach education, paediatric life support, immunisation, diabetes education, stomal therapy, and more.

🌟 Why this matters
• Keeps our nurses at the forefront of best-practice care
• Improves patient outcomes through specialised expertise
• Strengthens recruitment, retention, and professional growth across our nursing workforce

A sincere thank you to every donor, Rotary Club, and supporter who has contributed. Your generosity is directly shaping the care patients receive every day.
