What is a buckle fracture? 🦴
A buckle fracture is a small area of compressed bone, seen often in young children under 12 due to their bones being softer and more flexible than adults.
This type of fracture is often seen in the wrist, is stable and heals quickly without problems.
With a buckle fracture in the wrist, immobilisation in a thermoplastic splint is recommended for 3 weeks with advice to avoid contact sports 6 weeks.
