✨ Let’s Talk Sensory Processing ✨
Sensory processing refers to how our brains take in and respond to information from the world around us — including sound, touch, movement, smell, taste and internal sensations like balance or hunger.
For some children, sensory input can feel overwhelming (“too much”) or under-stimulating (“not enough”), which may look like:
• Covering ears in noisy places
• Avoiding certain textures
• Craving movement or struggling to sit still
• Becoming overwhelmed in busy environments
As Occupational Therapists, we support children to understand and regulate their sensory world through play-based therapy, structured activities and family strategies. The goal is to help them feel safe, confident and ready to learn, play and engage in daily life.
Every child processes sensory information differently — and that’s okay. With the right support, kids can build skills that help them to thrive.
