Key points to remember:

Head injuries can be mild, moderate or severe.
Call an ambulance if your child has had a head injury involving high speeds or height, or if after a knock to the head they lose consciousness or vomit more than once.

Your child may develop a number of different symptoms in the weeks after a head injury. If your child develops any of the red flag symptoms described above, you should seek immediate medical attention.

The HeadCheck app can help manage concussion recovery at home and is freely available on the App store and Google store. HeadCheck is an interactive tool; the main benefit is allowing families to monitor children’s symptoms on a daily basis, and then providing examples of appropriate activities based on symptoms and age.

Febrile Convulsions seem to be a HOT topic at the moment! As a healthcare professional and a mother, I have witnessed first hand my son having two of these events when he was younger. Very scary to watch, but also very common.

An update from Allergy & Anaphylaxis Australia 🇦🇺

Anapen® Junior 150 and Anapen® 300 no longer available in Australia

Arrotex, the company who is responsible for distribution of Anapen® in Australia, has recently told Allergy & Anaphylaxis Australia (A&AA) that Anapen® Junior 150 and Anapen® 300 will no longer be available in this country.

👉Anapen® 300 will be available until end of July 2024.
👉Anapen® Junior 150 will be available until end of September 2024.

After these dates, patient with prescriptions for either product will be given EpiPen® or EpiPen® Jr by the pharmacy along with training on using the device.

👉Anapen® 500 will remain available for people weighing 50kg and over, and will continue to be available as the only 500mcg adrenaline injector in Australia.

Hard plastic Anapen® cases for Anapen® 500 devices are now available free of charge for patients from their pharmacist. Anapen® Trainer devices will also still be available and can be purchased through A&AA's online shop at https://allergyfacts.org.au/

Allergy & Anaphylaxis Australia would like to remind people over 50kg to talk with their allergy specialist or GP about which adrenaline injector and dose would be most appropriate for them.

The decision by Arrotex to no longer have Anapen® Junior 150 and Anapen® 300 in Australia has been made because of a lack of demand for these products. This decision was voluntary and not related to any quality or safety issues. Anapen® 150, 300 and 500 continue to be sold in countries across the globe.
