Did you know that you can be buried with your dog?

Following a legislation change late last year Victorians can now be buried with their pets body or their cremated remains - something which was previously illegal.

Seeing Naomi represent families in the most precious times I hear and time again that she's the right person to celebrate the life and legacy of those loved ones. Excellent service from start to finish.

What is a keepsake urn?

Increasingly popular in Australia, a keepsake urn is a small urn that can contain a small amount of a loved ones ashes.

This can be as tiny as a smidge or ashes encased in jewellery, or something larger, like this palm sized golden heart shown here.

Often tactile, keepsake urns are something that are usually small, frequently handled. But they can also be small amounts of ash pressed into clay and thrown into a small bud vase, or encased in blown glass.

There are no rules. There is no right way. Only the way that feels right for you.

At Vivid Funerals we can help you navigate the world of keepsake urns - from the weird to the wonderful.

As a Mornington local, I was impressed to discover how much diversity there is in the types of funerals you can have. My wife and I have learnt so much and Naomi has been kind, calm and knowledgeable throughout.

Powerful interview with Angie List this morning on ABC Radio Melbourne (774)…

She has started a petition called Hems Law, to show palliative mercy to dementia sufferers in the final stages of death. As dementia is the number one cause of death for Australians the timing for a law like this has never been more pertinent.

If dementia is the cause of death, a person forgets how to swallow. As they cannot eat or drink, the process of dying begins. This can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks - or, as Angie puts it, they starve to death. She wants to stop that.

You can read about the proposed change to legislation and sign the petition below.

We felt so lucky to have found Naomi at such a difficult time… there were so many ways that she was able to help… she was so good at tailoring everything that we wanted for mum’s life celebration. Everything was so fluid and easy. Naomi also contributed a few creative suggestions in our planning but in an entirely appropriate way that was never intrusive. We chose to have her be both planner and celebrant at the send off. She was always excellent re communication. Naomi has such a warm personality, we felt very comfortable around her from the get go. I highly recommend Naomi

Naomi was an absolute delight to work with she helped my sisters and I achieve our father’s wishes and then a week later with the same care, support and attention detail for our mother. Naomi we can’t thank you enough you made us feel very comfortable.

A special mention to Naomi, who was amazing. She not only guided us with kindness—she proactively managed any issues that arose and made sure everything we needed done before the burial was taken care of. The way she teared up at the end of the service showed how much heart she put into it and how deeply she empathised with us.

Pricing was very fair and transparent, everything on the day ran smoothly, and the invitation cards were beautifully done. The team’s manner throughout was formal, respectful, and welcoming. I would recommend Picaluna to anyone wanting to feel truly understood—this didn’t feel like ā€œjust a jobā€ to them; it was done for deeper reasons.

If you’re looking for a funeral director on the Mornington Peninsula, I can’t recommend Naomi Korolew and Vivid Funerals highly enough. We live in Frankston, and I was really impressed by how knowledgeable Naomi is about funerals and how thoughtful and creative her approach is.

She’s very friendly, creative in finding affordable options and is truly dedicated to helping the local community.

We feel really lucky to have found her.

Early pregnancy loss often goes unseen…

The Butterfly Garden at Bunurong Memorial Park is a newly created memorial space for miscarriage and early pregnancy loss — a place to acknowledge lives that mattered, no matter how brief.

From above, its design resembles a womb — protective, enclosed, intentional.

A space that says: this mattered.

It was cretaed in collaboration with Miscarriage Information Support Service (MISS), Red Nose Australia and Monash Health.
