On Saturday I facilitated my first Mother blessing-way. It was such an honour to hold space and witness the beautiful loving energy and intention in the circle.

I absolutely cannot wait to facilitate another Mother blessing-way soon!

✨What is a blessing way?

✨A Blessing Way is an ancient Navaho tradition of bringing love and intention to a mother-to-be, so she may enter labour and new motherhood unbridled.
It is part of the honouring of the transformation a woman goes through each time she becomes a mother.
It is about connecting this mother-to-be to her tribe of women so we may help her release any fears and prepare for birth. Whilst offering her our energy to connect to and draw upon when she needs it.

✨Activities that may be included in a blessing way:

Making a Bead necklace
Making Flower crowns
Candle / light a blessing ceremony
Massaging the mama to be
Burning of fears
Binding of wrists
Sound healing
Readings / meaningful words

💛Closing of the bones ceremony has been very popular recently at the innate mama!

✨Closing of the Bones ceremony is a beautiful way to honour & nurture a newborn mother. making space for the enormous shift in her physical, mental and emotional state.

✨The Closing of the Bones ceremony acknowledges the immense changes a woman has undergone in pregnancy and childbirth and assists in bringing her energy back into her own body. Physically, it guides her bones back into place, helps her pelvic organs shift and stimulates blood flow. Women who are
honored in this way experience a sense of calm and grounding, re-establishing her sense of self.

✨The Ritual:
Using a Traditional rebozo, the hips of the woman (that have widened/opened to accommodate the growing baby and birth) are gently rocked and guided back into place. The gentle rocking movement has a soothing effect on the entire physical & mental state.

✨The next part of ceremony a woman’s body is tightly wrapped using five rebozos on different parts of her body—feet, knees, hips, shoulders & head. The woman is then left to rest as I hold this sacred space for her.
Energy work is the preformed to bring her back to center, balance her energy and relax her.

✨This beautiful ritual is available for all Mamas from 4 weeks postpartum. It is also available to Mamas who have lost a baby. This can support the body in preparing, recovering and processing what you have been through.

‘The Basics’ Baby Massage group session is on Tuesday 3rd March.

Get your Mother’s group together or come solo and meet some new Mamas as we explore the basics of baby Massage.
(Dads/Partners are welcome too!)

✨Classes are fun & interactive.

✨learn how to confidently Massage your baby using the correct techniques (not a from a reel!) positioning & baby safe massage oil.

✨Learn the importance of the permission sequence & the right timing to help achieve the many benefits of baby Massage.

This 60mins session will include:

•basic baby massage techniques
•Wind colic and constipation sequence
•Permission sequence
•safe oils to use
•correct timing and positioning
•contraindications

✨Date: Tuesday 3rd March

✨Time: 10am

✨Location: The Innate Mama, Mornington

✨Investment: $50

(includes baby massage oil)

✨Demonstration dolls are available if your baby is sleeping or not wanting a Massage during the session.

I will work in with you and your babies’ needs during the session

Suitable for Babies 5 weeks+
Babies aged 10-13months old, this can be difficult to keep your baby still for a Massage (as they just want to explore! )

‘I would love Postpartum doula support but don’t think I can afford it’!

This is something that I hear often!

Many of my clients have found ways to find the money to pay for postpartum doula care after birth.

Therefore, here are some ways you can make it accessible to you!

~Instead of going to a private hospital, consider seeing an independent midwife and then giving birth at a public hospital.

~When friends and family ask what you want for a gift at your baby shower, give them a list of services where they can purchase a gift voucher. Ideally, services that will support you in postpartum such as a Postpartum Doula or a food delivery service for early postpartum. That way, you can focus on recovery and feeding your bubs rather than worrying about what to cook for dinner or what to eat for your next snack!

~Start putting away $15-$20 before you get pregnant or in early pregnancy. That way you’ll be able to save $$$ for Postpartum support.

~Borrow money from your parents or a close friend (I had one client ask her Mum as some unexpected bills came in, and she paid her Mum back when she returned to work)

~ Instead of purchasing the ‘latest model’ or the ‘best pram on the market’ consider buying a less expensive brand, or purchasing it off marketplace for half the price!
Trust me, your baby won’t care if you have the most expensive/aesthetic items in his or her bedroom!

~Make your ‘baby moon’ a smaller getaway, or consider not going interstate and settling for an air bnb in Victoria.

I held you long before my arms did, in my dreams and thoughts. I whispered to you the lullabies that would later send you off to sleep.

I knew you long before I met you, I would talk of your personality made up of elbows and knees, “ready to keep me on my toes”, I would say.

I loved you long before I saw you, tracing black and white prints of your lips, knowing soon enough I’d be kissing them with my own.

I heard you long before your cry into the world. That first heart beat, the one that echoed love and relief, a quick rhythm that made time slow down.

I wanted you long before I needed you, as I sat there willing tests to show me the lines that would change my life.

I felt you long before I touched you, the stretches of my belly proudly growing you. The pain that sometimes comes with being made of eachother, the worry, that I couldn’t be without you now.

I shared with you my heart before you’d steal it completely. I’ve shared stories, ones of how I met your father, books already sitting on your shelf. I’ve shared unspoken emotions with you that I know you can feel.

I’ve shared my body,
I am your land and you are my guide.
When it’s dark at night I wonder, will it be tonight?

I’m nervous
There’s so much I don’t know.
But I know I love you.
