Aberlea Inc. is a new entity for the organisation formally known as Abbeyfield House Mortlake which was formed in 1984 to address the need for aged care.

Aberlea Mortlake is an aged care hostel in Western Victoria. It is a modern, state of the art facility with 40 beds that provide permanent and respite care as well as day respite. Well maintained gardens, atriums and courtyards provide a pleasant outlook for residents and visitors. Every room offers a modern ensuite bathroom, built in robe, heating, telephone, TV points and an emergency call system. Residents are invited to furnish their room with treasured pieces of furniture, paintings and books to add to an atmosphere which is already homely and welcoming. All rooms have lockable storage space for residents' private belongings and doors which open to communal gardens and living areas. Communal areas within the house provide a relaxed settings where residents can enjoy the company of others, or a place to retreat for peace and quiet. A fully furnished respite room is available for those in the community who need accomodation and care on a temporary basis. Highly nutritious home cooked meals are prepared on the premises in our fully equipped commercial kitchen. Special dietary requirements are catered for upon request or need. Residents health and well-being are carefully monitored by an attentive staff of trained nurses and personal carers who are available 24 hours a day to help with all requirements. We also offer a range of service for members of the community who need help at home. These services include, but are not limited to, lawn mowing, gutter clearing, house cleaning, in house meals, window cleaning and general maintenance.

The dining room has been beautifully decorated today - resplendent in lots of green and many, many shamrocks!
Residents gathered together at Happy, Happy Hour this afternoon, enjoying Irish themed food and drinks 😀

Residents this morning enjoyed a challenging game of “egg pong”, utilising keen hand-eye coordination skills and concentration.
This afternoon residents lined up to go fo a drive on the Aberlea bus with volunteer Janette - the destination was Camperdown, featuring a drive up Mount Leura 😀

Residents today enjoyed an outing to St Andrew’s Uniting Church Hall, where everyone enjoyed delicious pancakes in honour of Shrove Tuesday 😀 All agreed that they were incredible; thank you to all at the Uniting Church for their continued wonderful tradition each year, greatly appreciated by the Mortlake community.

Tuesday's Bus Trip took us to Warrnambool for Morning Tea at Gateway Plaza. A muffin and a coffee before we hit the shops for some Retail Therapy! Then onto Wangoom General Store for lunch....oh and some more shopping !!! Lots of laughs, great food and wonderful company made for a great day out 🚌
