Big news in the NDIS world this week:
Graeme Head has been appointed as the new CEO of the NDIA.

You might remember him as the first NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commissioner and now he’s returning to lead the Agency itself.

It’s a huge role, and like everyone in our community, we’re hopeful that this leadership change brings renewed focus on participants, clarity, and collaboration across the system.

roundsquared will continue doing what we do best & support our Members & families to navigate change and stay connected.

The NDIA today announced that Graeme Head will be the new CEO of the NDIA.

If that name sounds familiar to you, it’s because Mr Head was the inaugural NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Commissioner between 2018 and 2021. It seems NDIS leadership has morphed into a sitcom with a limited cast of recurring characters.

More recently, Mr Head was the Secretary of NSW’s Department of Customer Service. He was also previously NSW’s Public Services Commissioner.

Hopefully, his extensive experience in public policy has prepared him for what, if we’re being honest, must be one of the most challenging jobs in the Australian public service.

In July, former NDIA CEO Rebecca Falkingham announced she was taking personal leave due to illness. Ms Falkingham has been receiving treatment for stage 3 breast cancer. Deputy CEO Scott McNaughton has been serving as acting CEO since her departure in July.

We had an incredible day getting to know Participants and Providers in the area - building relationships to provide meaningful connections to the people we support.

ADVOCACY IN ACTION 💪
In September, the Let’s Talk, Speak Out! (LTSO) advocacy group met with Debbie from Adacas - ACT Disability, Aged and Carer Advocacy Service - a free, independent advocacy service supporting people with disability, older people, and carers across the ACT and southern NSW.

Debbie shared how ADACAS helps individuals understand and speak up for their rights, offering real-life examples of advocacy in action.
LTSO members reflected on their own experiences — from standing up for choice and control (“It’s my choice”, “I’m the boss of me”) to previous campaigns like writing to McDonald’s about QR check-ins, which were not universally accessible.

The session built on the group’s skills in self-advocacy and supported decision-making, reinforcing how powerful it can be to have the right support to make informed choices.

Members left with new resources and the confidence to connect with ADACAS whenever they need advocacy support.

For over 40 years, PlayAbility supported children and families across the Bega Valley through inclusive programs, early intervention, and community connection.

The Bega Inclusion Hub, built with bushfire recovery funds to support local families and people with disability, 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝘁 𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗸 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗮𝗹𝗲, 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆-𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗲𝗱, 𝗻𝗼𝘁-𝗳𝗼𝗿-𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝘁 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲.

Accessible and inclusive spaces in regional areas are vital for families, support services, and people with disability who rely on them.
