Community consultation at Ulladulla Civic Centre 6pm tomorrow! ISLHD has recently
expanded the Midwifery Group Practice Model of care to include
services for eligible women in the Milton region and is working
towards introducing a home-birthing model for suitable, low-risk
women. Come and have your say and lets keep moving forward on expanding choices for birthing families!!

✨Happy International Homebirth day!✨ this moment is what we must protect …. Whilst we are soon to take a little break, we will never stop championing for women’s rights to decide where and with whom they birth. Homebirth advocacy is not just supporting women to birth at home, it is an issue that runs far deeper than that. It’s about supporting women’s choices and their right to make decisions about their own bodies. It’s also about supporting midwives to practice in a model that allows them to fully support these choices also. Things are happening at government level that may soon inhibit these choices for women and for midwives. It may soon be time to rise up and rally to defend those rights. Ladies… dust off those broomsticks 🧹 it may soon be time to take to the skies 💪

Cleaning and packing up the final bits and pieces of our nest journey is such an emotional process. Looking through the paperwork, photos, cards, gift and endless memories we have shared with women over the years is such a gift. We have been through so much in creating what we did.

We learned how to stand up for women and in turn ourselves and our profession. We have become confident highly skilled practitioners who are very well aware of our value in the birth space and within the community.
We made plenty of mistakes along the way and I apologise for those profusely. Our learning was hard and often painful. We always had women at the centre of our hearts and our decision making and we walked together beside each other and beside the families and people we loved and have emerged better people and better midwives for it.

Whilst it really is time for new adventures, new places and faces. We will never cease to be thankful to all of you for your endless trust, love and support in helping us create our beautiful Nest chapter 🩷 x Clare

4 years ago I got together with .rachel.reed .dahlen and to bring together ideas on how to improve women’s chances of having a positively transformative birth. All of this knowledge got mashed together in an online resource called ‘transformative birth work’.

We know that birth will always transform you and your family, but there can be destructive transformation or regenerative and positive transformation… and there are things that women, birth workers, supporters and care providers can do to facilitate a positively transformative birth.

These great minds got together to share their wisdom and this gem from stuck out at me as a moment in the course.

I never really properly launched the course… it was for sale but it’s not right now… but it will be again soon. In the meantime remember, it’s your va**na and you decide how you use it. Next step is to find a care provider who is on your journey.
