Advice: Brassknocker Firetrail Fire, Yowrie (Bega Valley and Eurobodalla LGAs) - Monitor Conditions
More than 90 firefighters from the , NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service and NSW Forestry Corporation, along with contractors continue to build and strengthen containment lines under more favourable weather conditions today.
Due to the fire burning in remote and rugged terrain, broad containment lines have been identified to contain the fire. Firefighters on the ground, assisted by aircraft and heavy machinery will construct and bolster these lines.
Significant backburning will be undertaken to make sure the fire stays behind identified containment lines. This burning will occur from today and continue over a number of days until completed. This work is being done ahead of potentially unfavourable weather from Wednesday which could see high relative humidity and forecast light rainfall.
Residents in the surrounding areas will see increased activity and smoke while the backburning is conducted.
