Meet Lynne — World Champion Martial Artist 🥋✨

Lynne’s journey is all about strength, determination, and heart. From winning an Australian Taekwondo title to mastering Filipino martial arts during lockdown, she never stops pushing herself.

In 2024, she represented Australia at the World Eskrima Championships in Cebu — winning three gold medals. Beyond martial arts, Lynne brings warmth, creativity, and a little fun, always accompanied by her teddy bear, Samuel.

Meet Darrell — Woodworker with Heart & Determination 🪵✨

Darrell’s woodworking is more than a hobby — it’s a story of resilience, creativity, and quiet strength. Nearly 30 years after acquiring a brain injury, Darrell has found a powerful outlet in crafting beautiful woodwork pieces. Using recycled timber, Darrell crafts platter boards, flower stands, workbenches and more. For him, woodworking is therapeutic, grounding, and something he’s truly proud of.

🌿💦 A beautiful day out with The South Coasters!

Participants enjoyed a scenic trip to Agnes Falls. We made a quick stop at Meeniyan for a cuppa and a stretch, then continued on to take in the spectacular views of the falls.

Thanks to the recent rain, the water was flowing beautifully, making the walk to the falls even more enjoyable. The day finished with a relaxing lunch under the rotunda, listening to the birds and soaking up the fresh air. 🌞

Join us on December 3rd at Life Skills Victoria Community Hub, Moe for a day filled with art, performances, hands-on activities, and community connection.

Hidden or invisible disabilities — such as acquired brain injury, cognitive challenges, mental health conditions, and neurological disorders — often go unnoticed. But they can affect day-to-day life just as much as visible disabilities.

At Headway Gippsland, our origins are deeply connected to supporting people with acquired brain injury. We’ve seen firsthand how important awareness, understanding, and empathy are in creating an inclusive community.

💅✨ Pamper Day with The South Coasters!

Nothing beats a little self-care and relaxation. 💆‍♀️
Some of our participants enjoyed a lovely pamper session — with soothing hand massages, fresh nail polish, calming face masks, and cooling cucumbers to top it off! 🥒

With aromatherapy scents and relaxing music in the background, the day finished beautifully with a touch of eye makeup and lip gloss. A perfect way to unwind and feel refreshed. 💖

Our Morwell Social Support Group, the Latrobe Valley Venturers, had a fantastic day at Tenpin Bowling! 🎉

Kindness doesn’t have to be grand. Sometimes it’s a smile, a patient conversation, or offering support when someone needs it most.

Today, ask yourself:
✨ What act of kindness can I offer?
✨ Who might need extra compassion?
✨ How can I help someone feel included?

Remember, people living with disability are part of our community, not separate from it. Treat everyone with dignity, respect, and openness. We’re all people first.

Small acts can make a big difference.
