How it all began
SW Physiotherapy came about as a means of providing healthcare services to dancers within their environment, which is the dance studio. By working alongside dance teachers, parents and students, SW Physiotherapy provides individualised therapy that meets the dancers specific needs. Founding and Principal Physiotherapist Samantha Wolfenden has been working with dancers for many years within a clinical setting providing high quality assessment, treatment and management of musculoskeletal injuries. In addition, she has clinical and postgraduate qualifications in Advanced Healthcare Practice: Paediatrics, which lends itself very well to working with the young and adolescent dancer. With her knowledge of dance, paediatrics and musculoskeletal physiotherapy, Samantha understands the needs of a dancer and tailors her treatment to meet these demands.
Samantha has been surrounded by dancers and the dance industry all her life, having started out as a dancer herself from her primary school years all through to university where she wrote her honours thesis on the life of dancers from their perspective. She came to study physiotherapy through injury incurred as a dancer, having attended therapy and extensive pilates rehabilitation it pushed her further to take up studies in healthcare. Samantha brings this personal experience to her therapy, and enjoys helping others work through their own injuries to achieve their goals.
