Unfold Yoga + Wellbeing was established in Mount Barker by Loretta Voivodich in 2012. Loretta has been teaching yoga in the Adelaide Hills for over 15 years and built up a firm following of students who have felt the real difference yoga can make to their physical and mental wellbeing. Unfold offers a full weekly program with yoga classes suitable for all students, from the absolute beginner, to the progressive, advanced practitioner. Yoga practice cultivates a healthy body and a calmer mind. Attending classes at our studio you will better understand what you are doing when you practice and why we practice. Learn the art, science, and philosophy of yoga with a teacher! With our team of certified Iyengar teachers you can be sure you will receive quality, expertise, and individualised attention. Teachers at Unfold are caring and professional and have many years of practice, study, and dedicated training behind them. Classes explore the sequencing and technique of Asana (posture) and Pranayama (breath work) to integrate strength and flexibility, moderate the breath, and cultivate steadiness of the body, mind, and spirit. We use props to: explore the various aspects of a posture; to give assistance in the case of injuries or other conditions; and for restorative work. We make individual adjustments and corrections to help students understand and develop their yoga practice. Philosophy and approach are integral to classes and the atmosphere and instruction offer a respectful silence, seriousness, and focused energy, as well as the joy of being in the moment, which brings spontaneity, heightened awareness and a humble and honest approach to your practice. The Iyengar teaching method is oriented towards gradual but steady progress, rather than towards quick and fleeting results. Each Iyengar yoga class is a unique sequence created to guide students through a safe and systematic progression. Through skilled instruction and practice, students learn to penetrate beyond the physical body to the inner kosas (layers) of mind, energy, and spirit thereby gaining vitality, clarity, and calm through the practice. Iyengar yoga can be practiced at all stages of life. The benefits are far-reaching and will assist the practitioner in every aspect of daily living. Our studio is a special place that exudes a sense of calm, joyfulness, hard work, and transformation. It is spacious with natural light, good ventilation and elevated views. The yoga studio is carpeted and adequately temperature controlled for both the winter and summer months. All yoga equipment (including mats) is supplied and parking is available on the adjacent streets.

It was a special weekend attending the Iyengar Yoga Convention in Melbourne, reconnecting with the Australia wide community.
A brilliant event, with beautiful food, quiz night, senior teachers giving over their skillful teaching and imparting the richness of the Iyengar practice and traditions.
I am so grateful for this community, for the teachers and their decades long commitment to this craft and lineage. I am so grateful for the direct mentorship, the discussions, and the discipline to keep true to the practice. It’s an anchor and rudder to stay authentic, but then too a great journey to find our own creativity, challenges and growth within it.
I’m looking forward to sharing some of what I’ve taken in from my weekend involvement.

Enjoy a progressive and tailored course for new students to yoga, or for people who would like a refresher course.
🌼 In each class you’ll be guided through a sequence of postures, learning to stretch, strengthen and balance, with attention and awareness. You’ll be introduced to standing poses, seated poses and some inverted postures. The teacher will give instructions, demonstrations and adjustments to deepen your understanding of the pose, the practice, and yourself.
🌼 If you miss your weekly course class, you can make up that class at another session on our timetable.

Meet Bernie, one of our incredible teachers at Unfold Yoga. Berenice has visited us from Melbourne to fill in for classes many times, and we are so grateful to have her in our community 🌸🧘♀️
Berenice began her personal practice in the NT with weekly classes in the foyer of the Nhulunbuy cinema at age 16. Over the years, she explored various yoga methods but found her true love in Iyengar Yoga.
Australia has so many incredible Senior Iyengar teachers and Berenice has worked with many of them. She started teacher training with Carole Baillargeon in 2003/4, and completed with Sue Everett and Peter Scott in 2016. Since then, her main influences have been Marina Jung and Mark Gibson. She also takes inspiration from James Hasemer and Stephanie Quirk. Berenice had the opportunity to study with both Geeta Iyengar and Prashant Iyengar at RIMYI. This experience profoundly influenced her practice and teaching style.
Today, Berenice’s personal practice is modified to manage the symptoms of arthritis. She truly embodies her belief in the healing power of yoga: “Yoga teaches us to cure what need not be endured and endure what cannot be cured.” - BKS Iyengar
Bernie’s teaching style is beloved by our students at Unfold Yoga, and we are thrilled to have her coming in to teach Level 1 & Level 2 classes in October.

We love our weekly specialised classes for children and teenagers and special weekend family yoga sessions. We welcome pregnant women to our general classes by offering suitable modifications and options, but please contact us first. Arranging a private individual session can be recommended as a starting point when restrictions or specific conditions need to be considered before entering a general class.
