Unfold Yoga + Wellbeing was established in Mount Barker by Loretta Voivodich in 2012. Loretta has been teaching yoga in the Adelaide Hills for over 15 years and built up a firm following of students who have felt the real difference yoga can make to their physical and mental wellbeing. Unfold offers a full weekly program with yoga classes suitable for all students, from the absolute beginner, to t
he progressive, advanced practitioner. Yoga practice cultivates a healthy body and a calmer mind. Attending classes at our studio you will better understand what you are doing when you practice and why we practice. Learn the art, science, and philosophy of yoga with a teacher! With our team of certified Iyengar teachers you can be sure you will receive quality, expertise, and individualised attention. Teachers at Unfold are caring and professional and have many years of practice, study, and dedicated training behind them. Classes explore the sequencing and technique of Asana (posture) and Pranayama (breath work) to integrate strength and flexibility, moderate the breath, and cultivate steadiness of the body, mind, and spirit. We use props to: explore the various aspects of a posture; to give assistance in the case of injuries or other conditions; and for restorative work. We make individual adjustments and corrections to help students understand and develop their yoga practice. Philosophy and approach are integral to classes and the atmosphere and instruction offer a respectful silence, seriousness, and focused energy, as well as the joy of being in the moment, which brings spontaneity, heightened awareness and a humble and honest approach to your practice. The Iyengar teaching method is oriented towards gradual but steady progress, rather than towards quick and fleeting results. Each Iyengar yoga class is a unique sequence created to guide students through a safe and systematic progression. Through skilled instruction and practice, students learn to penetrate beyond the physical body to the inner kosas (layers) of mind, energy, and spirit thereby gaining vitality, clarity, and calm through the practice. Iyengar yoga can be practiced at all stages of life. The benefits are far-reaching and will assist the practitioner in every aspect of daily living. Our studio is a special place that exudes a sense of calm, joyfulness, hard work, and transformation. It is spacious with natural light, good ventilation and elevated views. The yoga studio is carpeted and adequately temperature controlled for both the winter and summer months. All yoga equipment (including mats) is supplied and parking is available on the adjacent streets.

The lovely .smith.yoga practicing on Sunday before her 9am class which has become one of our popular classes of the week.
Sam is a dedicated yoga practitioner, a high school teacher and careers councillor, as well as teaching yoga at her school to school students as well as her peer teachers. Sam also dedicates her Sunday mornings to Unfold yoga studio, providing well planned, inspiring yoga classes for her regular students.
We are so grateful to have Sam teach at our studio. She provides thoughtful and engaging class sequences, grounded and sincere practice methodology, and a supportive, caring energy, so no one is left behind.

And thats a rap! Our third and final class of our Easter weekend workshop - making our way through our backbends today.
This 3-morning workshop of two hours each day allowed time for a grounding foundation through a long and deep set of standing poses on the first day, venturing through a wide range of standing and seated forward bends on the second day, including a little workshop in kicking up in to full arm balance. One student achieved his first time independent kick up, maintaining the balance for a good time. Two other students were assisted and got up in to hand balance for the first time. The third day we were primed for our back ending session, including consolidating inversions (both active and supported) each day.
Joining a workshop offers a rhythm, daily ritual, enjoyable discipline, and particular rigour. The experience is always transformative with new insight, possibilities, depths and development.

Step into the Easter long weekend with three extended morning classes led by Loretta. An opportunity to explore beyond the surface.
Workshops highlight specific themes, techniques and approaches. Loretta will help students explore the Iyengar method with clarity, depth and rigour, all while maintaining a focussed and supportive environment.
Consecutive days of practice give time to develop and progressively build capacity over the workshop series. Loretta encourages everyone to participate in this yoga workshop.

I have just been for a weekend teacher training with Pixie Lillas and it is where so much learning and development takes place for us as Iyengar teachers.
Itโs a weekend of listening, observing, reflecting, with lots of practice, enquiry and investigation, with the opportunity to put forth questions and receive answers in shared discussion groups with our teacher.
Always invigorating, extending, alerting, and direct, are Gurujiโs teachings, kept alive with authenticity, generosity and joy, by our senior Iyengar yoga teachers. We are fortunate to have the authenticity of Gurujiโs work to come before us for guidance.
Hard to know how to talk of my experience, however, the teachings are conveyed simply, with a practical approach, a direct, clear understanding. Pixie conveys the teachings from the source - uncomplicated, unembellished in every way, with great memory, depth and richness; that comes from our senior teachersโ own, long, sustained practice and connection with lineage.
From these experiences we learn that YOGA is not just the outer, โthe exerciseโ, but is so much more. We need to pick up on a journey, a path, within the body, and towards the soul. From these experiences periphery to the core, and from the core to the periphery. Only we can go in to see from within.
This is what makes Yoga SO interesting. Yoga makes us look at ourself.

We love our weekly specialised classes for children and teenagers and special weekend family yoga sessions. We welcome pregnant women to our general classes by offering suitable modifications and options, but please contact us first. Arranging a private individual session can be recommended as a starting point when restrictions or specific conditions need to be considered before entering a general class.
