Mount Barker parkrun

Mount Barker parkrun A free, weekly, timed 5k event every Saturday morning at 8am at the Homemaker Centre. Everyone is welcome to walk, run or volunteer.

Mount Barker parkrun is a FREE weekly timed 5km event for runners of all standards, which takes place every Saturday at 8am from the Mount Barker Homemaker Centre, approximately 33km east of Adelaide's CBD. parkrun is not a race against other runners, but a 5k timed run and it can really be whatever you want it to be, whether that's for fun or as part of a training plan. It offers an opportunity for all the local community, male or female, young or old, to come together on a regular basis to enjoy the beautiful surrounds and get physically active at the same time. We want to encourage people to jog or
run together irrespective of their ability – this event is truly open to all and best of all it really is FREE!

Congratulations to Paul Butler on reaching his 250th volunteer milestone!

In Paul's words:
'This Saturday I will be celebrating an official parkrun milestone - my 250th volunteer!

I will have volunteered in 379 roles over 250 parkrun days (because often it involves doing more than one role for any particular day).

I'm especially grateful to be a part of our amazing Event Team group of Run Directors - and very thankful for all the previous people who have been part of the Event Team too - in particular I'm indebted to Ros Lowe who was instrumental in getting Mt Barker parkrun established.

I'm also honoured to be a parkrun Photography Ambassador and love visiting so many other welcoming communities to photograph their events. (photo is courtesy of a recent visit to Lochiel parkun)

Thank you to everyone who shares in the fun by jumping in to be part of the volunteer team each week, and to everyone who turns up to participate and make the community happen!

And now I can't wait to update my parkrun wardrobe with the next round of milestone merch - 'volunteer 250'!! (when too much parkrun gear is barely enough....)'

It’s “that” time of the week again, when you get to hear about an incredible event called parkrun. This Saturday at 8am we launch everyone on their way to enjoy a run, a jog, a walk or nice easy saunter. However, just prior to 8am we’d love to celebrate any milestones you may have that morning – Is it your 10th, 25th, 50th, 100th or 250th …… dare we dream of someone celebrating their 500th parkrun!!!! Perhaps it’s the same amount but as a volunteer?

We will give a quick shout out for anyone who can help with a couple of volunteer roles – we need 2 x barcode scanners and a parkwalker. If you’re able to help, please let us know by messaging us or dropping a comment below. We look forward to seeing you on Saturday 😊
