Not every ache is just growing pains.

“Growing pains” are common in kids, but they usually:
✨Happen at night
✨Affect both legs
✨Come and go
✨Don’t impact how your child moves during the day

It might be worth a closer look if your child:
✨Has pain in one specific spot
✨Is limping or avoiding activities
✨Complains during the day
✨Has swelling, stiffness, or weakness
✨Isn’t keeping up with their usual play

Sometimes pain can be linked to muscle weakness, joint control, or movement patterns…not just growth.

Early support can make a big difference.

If you’re ever unsure, it’s always okay to ask questions and get it checked.

The little milestones are important building blocks for development.

Rolling. Sitting. Crawling. Standing. First steps.

They might seem like small moments, but each one helps shape how babies develop strength, coordination and confidence to move.

Development isn’t something that just happens, it’s shaped by everyday experiences, genetics, biomechanics, personality and opportunity. Time spent on the floor exploring, reaching for toys, pushing up, rolling and moving in different ways helps babies build the foundations for the next stage.

Every baby develops at their own pace, and milestones can vary quite a bit. What matters most is giving babies plenty of opportunities to move, explore and practise new skills in their own time.

If you ever have questions about your baby’s development or feel something isn’t quite right, we can help guide you and support your baby’s movement.

Because those little milestones are the start of a lifetime of movement. 🏃‍♀️🧘🏽‍♀️🤸🏻‍♂️

Exercise doesn’t have to feel like exercise for kids.

One of the easiest ways to build strength, balance and coordination is through animal walks. Kids love them because they feel like a game but they’re actually doing some great conditioning and strength work at the same time.

Try these at home:

🐻 Bear walk – great for upper body
🦀 Crab walk – builds arm strength and coordination
🐸 Frog jumps – helps develop leg power
🐍 Snake slither – encourages whole body movement and control
🐧 Penguin waddle – challenges balance and hip strength
🦩 Flamingo stance - tests balance and ankle stability
🐛 Caterpillar crawl - focuses on core and flexibility
+ more!

These types of playful movements help develop the building blocks for running, jumping, climbing and sport.

Even better? Kids are far more likely to keep moving when it feels like play instead of exercise.

Save this for a fun movement idea to try at home or in the backyard 🐾

DM me for any examples needed
Plus, they’re great for adults too!

“Will they grow out of it?”
It’s one of the most common questions we hear from parents, and the answer is… sometimes yes, but often not without support.

Kids are great at adapting, which can make movement issues look like they’ve disappeared. But underlying problems with strength, coordination, posture, or pain don’t always resolve on their own. Left unchecked, they can show up later as ongoing pain, reduced confidence in activities or leisure, or injuries.

The good news? Early assessment and simple strategies can make a big difference, helping kids move well, feel strong, and keep doing the things they love.

If you’re unsure whether something is just a phase or worth checking out, we’re always happy to help at Fizz Family Physiotherapy 💛🪴

Did you know kids don’t always say “my back hurts”…
Sometimes they say “I don’t want to go to sport today.”

Avoiding sport, complaining of “tired legs,” or suddenly losing interest in activities they usually love can be their way of telling us something doesn’t feel right.

Kids aren’t always great at describing pain. A change in behaviour can be the biggest clue.

If your child:
• Pulls out of sport more than usual
• Says their limbs, back or joints feel “tight,” “sore,” or “weird”
• Struggles after sitting, school, or training
• Wanting more rest than usual

It might be worth getting it checked.

At Fizz Family Physiotherapy, we look at the whole picture; growth, strength, posture, sport load, and movement patterns. This helps kids feel confident and comfortable 💛🫱🏼‍🫲🏽

Big wins start with little words 💬
Encouragement. Confidence. High fives.
Sometimes the biggest progress isn’t just physical, it’s confidence 💛

The words we use with kids matter. Encouragement builds belief, and belief helps little bodies do big things.

Behind every “They did it!” is hard work, persistence, and a whole lot of support. And we love cheering them on just as much as you do 🙌

Because physio isn’t just about exercises, it’s about helping kids believe in what they can do 💛

At Fizz Family Physiotherapy, we celebrate every win, because those moments shape strong, confident kids.

Tummy time is one of the best ways to help your little one build strength, confidence, and early motor skills. It helps to build the foundations for rolling, crawling and exploring the world.
At Fizz Family Physiotherapy, we recommend starting with short, frequent bursts throughout the day. Even 1–2 minutes counts!

Start low and slow, make it fun, and follow their cues. Try chest-to-chest cuddles, across your lap, or a rolled towel under the arms for extra support.
Little moments lead to big milestones 💜🚼
