Hi All

Update from Vik.

Vik is living in his own apartment in Shenton Park. Sue (Mum) has stepped back from RecyclemanPerth and Vik's team have stepped up.

It may take some time to answer your messages for pickup but the team will get there.
Vik is not on Facebook much anymore. You may see his posts that he makes himself over on Instagram.

Best to use Instagram or text the mobile: 0432 864661 If you wish to organise a pickup.

By the way shout out to Poppet's Pantry on Carrington Street in Nedlands for their awesome dinners that Vik loves.

Also big shout out to for their awesome staff especially Amy who makes Vik his hot chocolate. Wards Central Dining

Vik will continue to collect your containers and you may run into him around the Western Suburbs doing his normal RecyclemanPerth collections and his normal daily living.

Team Viko will be back the week of 7th January 2025.

Although the chair looks vacant Viko will be back collecting in 2025.

Hold onto your bags or drop them into the Containers for Change WA centre at 6 Orton Road Shenton Park. There is also a drop off bin located at the Showgrounds - entrance off Ashton Avenue.

Another Viko bin is located on Hampden Road Nedlands outside Dr Katrina Stratton MLA office. Pop your bottles and cans straight into this bin.

If you would like to donate your bottles and cans to another local cause drop them into the bin at Riding for the Disabled on Brockway Road in Mt Claremont.

If you can't hold onto your bottles and cans we recommend contacting Cameron Collects for a pickup.

Hi

You may be aware that there have be recent changes to NDIS.

A couple of changes have affected Vik's use of his support workers.

NDIS no longer cover Workers Compensation Insurance. Workers Comp has been the requirement in WA since NDIS began. Therefore Vik cannot use Kelly and Ben, his current workers, who are independent workers. Work Cover has declared VIk's workers as employees and therefore they require the family to take out workers compensation insurance. This is not viable for families supporting their adult children who have disabilities.

Kelly and Ben are now undertaking the rigorous process of becoming NDIS registered workers so they can continue to work with Vik under different employment conditions with NDIS registered agencies and platforms such as Humdrum. This will take some time and, meanwhile, Vik cannot access support with those who know him well and can cater to his needs.

It is a very confusing time for Viktor and we are grateful for the understanding shown by the Perth western suburbs community as their can not be collected by Vik at this busy time of the year.

This is the first of many change to NDIS that includes the introduction of debt collection from participants. Those who were affected by will be understandingly very concerned by the potential for Robodebt.

NDIS has been invaluable in Vik's development as a young man. As Vik move into another phase of his life as a man over 25 years old he will continue to require support especially as he works towards his goal of independent living. We are grateful for the opportunities NDIS provides but watch with trepidation as changes to NDIS have impact. This includes the "impairment notice" that will be issued to Viktor to indicate his impairments. NDIA was always about potential growth but now it is about incapacity.

IMPORTANT RE THIS WEEKS PICKUPS

Hi, unfortunately there has been a glitch with Vik's NDIS funding & his use of support workers. As a result Vik is unable to access support with his RecyclemanPerth ventures with effect immediately. Please bear with us while we work through the problem.

This means Vik is unable to work again until the problem is solved.

All collections are suspended immediately.

Our sincere apologies as Vik will not be able to collect this week at all.

We will update you as soon as we can.

Sue, Mark and Vik.
