Please join us in welcoming Dr Ginette Kremmidiotis to Mount Compass Medical Centre. Some of you may know her from when she consulted in McLaren Vale. Ginette graduated from Flinders University School of Medicine in 1991 and completed her surgical residencies at Flinders Medical Centre and the Repatriation General Hospital. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, completed a Diploma in Obstetrics in 1995 and is an experienced General Practitioner with a special interest in obstetrics and women’s health. We are happy to inform you that Dr Kremmidiotis is joining our practice in a part time capacity. Please ring 8556 8365 to make an appointment to see her.

The Bone Bus is coming to Mount Compass on Wednesday 8th & Thursday 9th April. If you are eligible for a free scan to check your bone health and you are a patient at our medical centre you would have received a letter from us. Remember you will need to book your appointment to get the referral from your GP.

If you want to pay to have one done privately it costs $130 but you would still need a referral from a doctor to book in. Osteoporosis is avoidable and if you have it there are ways to strengthen you bones and increase your bone density to avoid fractures in later life.

People aged 65 and over are at higher risk of becoming seriously ill from influenza (flu).

If you’re 65 or older, you can get the flu vaccine for free under the National Immunisation Program. Ring 8556 8365 to book in for yours at Mount Compass Medical Centre.

Flu vaccines will be available for other ages soon. If you would like more information, talk to your doctor.

We are excited! Our new doctor, Dr Vala will be doing her orientation here next week and then starts consulting full time from Tuesday 10th March. Appointments are now open for NEW and existing patients.

Dr Nanije Vala is an experienced General Practitioner who is relocating to the Fleurieu Peninsula from the United Kingdom where she has worked for many years across both General Practice and Urgent Care settings. She especially enjoys preventative health and supporting patients to make informed decisions about their wellbeing. Her key areas of interest include chronic disease management, women’s health, children’s health, skin conditions, preventative healthcare, mental health, and the assessment of common acute medical conditions.

Dr Vala will be available five days a week and is very much looking forward to becoming part of the Fleurieu community. Please ring us on 8556 8365 or use Hotdocs to make an appointment.

Local Fleurieu physiotherapist (and top bloke!) Bruce Konings visits our Medical Centre on Tuesdays and Thursdays. He specialises in treating pain from the musculoskeletal system (muscles, joints, bones etc) by skilful assessment, manual therapy and prescription of exercise with education about your diagnosis and a pathway to help settle, recover and prevent recurrence of pain. Bruce is also a qualified Vestibular Physiotherapist and can diagnose and treat conditions relating to dizziness and disequilibrium (unsteadiness).

Hello dear community, Dr Vikki McLaughlin is taking a couple of weeks off for some much needed rest. Consequently our hours will be reduced over the next two weeks (see poster).

If you need help when we are closed please go the Medicare Urgent Care Clinic in Morphett Vale or in Victor Harbor. If the matter is urgent then please ring an ambulance (000) or go to the Emergency Department at Victor Harbor Hospital, Flinders Medical Centre or Noarlunga Hospital. Our after hours doctor is also available on 134-100 24 hours/day if you need a quick script (they won't issue authority scripts).

We have Dr Vala starting with us on 10th March and she will be here full time. Thank you for your patience through this time.
