Hi Yogis,
Last week we explored our innate ability to self soothe and self heal by working with our breath. We listened to the messages contained within our breath and used pranayama (breath control) practices to invite calmness into our nervous systems.
In this conversation about our cultural norm glorifying busy and the stress we're often enduring, I'd like to point out the role of the mind. We can be placed into a stressful situation, and our thinking can add further anxiety on top of that by thinking thoughts that freak us out or make us feel hopeless e.g. "this is terrible!", "what a catastrophe!", "how am I ever going to get through this?"
Alternatively, helpful thoughts e.g. "I'll handle this", "I've already survived many challenges and I'll survive this one", "this too shall pass" can help us to navigate that situation with greater ease.
Once you acknowledge that you have the power to change your thoughts, your breathing, and your energy you have all you need to rise above challenges.
So this week I look forward to delving a little deeper into the relationship between our breath, our thoughts, and our energy π See you soon!
