As celebration for National Cotton Candy Day (7 December 2025), one of our patients bought in her very own cotton candy machine for us to try making some 😂

After a few failed attempts of making it look nice we eventually got it right!

Thanks Tobhiyah!

After nearly five years in Mount Gambier, I wanted to share that I’ll be relocating to Adelaide at the end of December.
It has been a privilege to care and service the Mount Gambier community. It has been an honour to get to know and help so many wonderful people along the way.
I cannot wait for this next chapter of my life and career, and I leave confident knowing that the clinic and community will be in amazing hands.

Thank you for all your support and trusting me to be part of your health journey.

💻 Spend hours on a computer for work or study?

The prevalence of neck pain is higher among office workers than in the general community, with studies suggesting 70% of desk workers report neck pain.

If you're a desk worker, you could be at risk of developing Tech Neck - a growing spinal health concern caused by poor posture and prolonged screen time.

Common symptoms include:
⚠️ Headaches
⚠️ Neck, shoulder, and upper back pain
⚠️ Postural changes and spinal curvature (especially in older adults)

Adjust your thinking: Prevention is the best protection:
✅ Maintain an upright, relaxed posture
✅ Take regular movement and stretching breaks
✅ Set your screen at eye level
✅ Use an ergonomic chair (knees slightly lower than hips)
✅ Consider a sit-stand desk to reduce spinal strain

National WorkSpace Week (20-26 October 2025) is dedicated to the prevention and early intervention of work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs), Australia’s most common workplace injury which also accounts for the majority (57%) of workers’ compensation claims for serious injuries. SafeWork NSW reports the cost for serious WMSD claims requiring one or more weeks absence, averaged almost $65k per claim between 2018-2023.

WorkSpace Week aligns with Safe Work Australia’s ‘Australian Work Health and Safety (WHS) Strategy 2023–2033’ developed to create safe and healthy workspaces for everybody and to lessen the long-term impact on workers, employers, and the economy by improving the spinal health and wellbeing of all workers vulnerable to work-related musculoskeletal disorders.

National WorkSpace Week (20-26 October) is dedicated to reducing work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) which costs the Australian economy over $55 billion annually in direct health costs, lost productivity, absenteeism and reduced quality of life.

[ Work Australia] reports WMSDs as the top workplace health issue impacting the physical and mental health of workers in terms of frequency, cost and workers compensation claims.

Do you know the modifiable risk factors that trigger WMSDs?

Poorly executed lifting, pushing, pulling or bending, using computers in non-ergonomic workspaces (in an office or at home), poor posture, driving and repetitive strain injuries, and mental stress are the leading activities which can trigger work-related musculoskeletal disorders.

ACA chiropractors provide holistic healthcare and guidance on how to prevent work-related back and neck injuries.

In an independent national survey commissioned by the Australian Chiropractors Association, of more than 1000 Australians, 87% of respondents reported experiencing a work-related musculoskeletal disorder (WMSD).

WMSDs are caused by physical stress, mental stress, repetitive work and poorly set up non-ergonomic workspaces. Conditions like chronic neck and back pain, shoulder stiffness, and headaches are often linked to modifiable risk factors in Australian workplaces.

Sedentary female workers are feeling it the most — reporting neck pain at rates 22% higher than men (71.7% vs 59%), according to the [ Chiropractors Association] Impact of Tech Neck & Neck Pain in Australia survey.

Prevention and early intervention is the best protection against work-related injuries.

Adjust your thinking and consult a chiro to help prevent and treat workspace musculoskeletal injuries like back pain, neck pain and discomfort and cervicogenic headaches.

By seeking early intervention, ACA chiropractors can provide effective treatment options to help prevent deterioration, improve recovery, reduce severity and help avoid long-term implications including depression and overuse or reliance on medications for chronic pain.
