I really don’t think we should have had to have posted publicly to respond, however given the amount of messages we are receiving I have copied and pasted my response on the original post :

To address all the lovely comments, as the owner of the company, I’ve been sent this a few times this morning. The person driving the vehicle had someone who requires a wheelchair in the car and did the best they could in the situation. Please be mindful that at this time of the year we sometimes have some very anxious people that we are transporting around and just need to get things done to make it easier for the people we are supporting. The staff driving did have a permit on board, however there were no parks. To address the ‘second driver’ comment, we really do wish everyone’s funding covered this- it doesn’t. Perhaps the community just needs to be more accepting that things sometimes need to be altered to support someone with a disability. I’ll also comment that we have had several staff pull up at entrances and as quickly as possible drop off and find a park, to be beeped the crap out of by other impatient drivers. So really, there’s no ‘winning’ with any solution.

We have service capacity and are working through COVID-19.

For those working with participants who are in Supported Independent Living arrangements we have been advised of the following from the Department of Human Services:

A close contact can return to the workplace provided they:
o Have no symptoms
o Return a negative PCR taken at least 24 hours after exposure
o Use required PPE, AND
o Return daily RATs before their shifts

NOTE
o A close contact who lives with someone who is positive MUST NOT RETURN TO THE WORKFORCE UNLESS THEIR LIVING ARRANGEMENTS ARE COMPLETELY SEGREGATED. If living arrangements are not segregated the standard isolation protocols for a close contact must be followed.

For the remaining staff AND casual contacts the following protocol is in place:

o Surveillance RAT testing 3 x per week
o Casual contacts can return to work after a negative RAT taken at least 24 hours after exposure.

There is a direction in relation to support workers and the COVID-19 Vaccine. Any support worker who attends a health appointment (GP, hospital etc) with a participant is now required to have the COVID-19 vaccine to deliver supports. This post is more of an FYI for participants and support workers delivering supports.
