Consider this; how poor someone is, is a subjective opinion based around how much they want, and/or how much someone else believes they should have. Your concept of how poor or rich you believe you are (or believe others are) is based on a combination of how much you want and how much your social group believes people should have. What do you actually want? Why? What do you really need? Why? What would you like to achieve? Never strive to meet someone else's expectations, you will always suffer. This goes both ways. Never try to be ultra minimalistic, if that isn't who you currently are. Never try to chase more money or possession, if that isn't currently who you are. Embrace who you are, let others be who they are. Others will not be richer by being you. Empower people to be individuals, you may be amazed how much more they can become.

Courage is a reward not a prior requirement. It only takes 5 seconds of insanity to back yourself enough to say yes. The power comes from placing yourself in positions to have the opportunity to say yes. We love empowering others, seeing them grow and flourishing in their own lives. Sometimes we need to pause, breathe and acknowledge us. Who we are, what we have done, now do and will do into the future. This isn't a scream out of "look at me", or a cockiness of "I'm better than them because", this is an opportunity for self empowering. Not comparing to any others, acknowledging all that we are, and what we can do.

Please, please refrain from using either of these terms.
"It's just common sense".
"Haven't you got any common sense"
That's the problem with young ones these days, no common sense"

During the 1970s, Western Societies weren't as affluent or as complex as they now are. Generally, people changed the oil and filters on their own vehicles, as they weren't financial enough to pay someone else to do it, their vehicles were simple enough to self maintain, the generation prior passed on the knowledge and they possessed the necessary tools. Car tyres went flat more often, so everyone learnt how to change one. Vegetables were grown, home meals were cooked, home maintenance was done. So many of these skills aren't being passed on, they are no longer common knowledge.
Before you make the all too often used phrase
"Things were better then"
Very few people travelled, so your current "common sense" when it comes to travel, never existed. Average life expectancy 70 (now 85). Interest rates of 7.5% (now 3.3%). High rates of workplace injuries, etc etc, then if want a scare, look at the rates & statistics from the 80s.
They were not better times, they were different times. I hope that you aren't finishing reading this thinking "yeah, young ones have it easier now"; that's the point, they're meant to, as each generation has it easier than the last, including yours.
If something doesn't seem to be common knowledge to someone, instead of belittling them, educate them. Pass on knowledge. Share with care.

Possibly the most common example of this in our current environment is people "hitting the gym" to "balance out" the "bad foods" and alcohol they consume excessively. In this example, the experience is merely coping with one aspect of the food / alcohol, the body fat %, the openly visible aspect, the aesthetics, the part others may judge. Digestive system, kidneys, liver, mental health, sleep patterns, etc are still impacted.
When you are working 60 - 70 hours a week, and tell yourself you balance it out by taking your family on expensive holidays twice a year; the impact of only spending time with your family twice a year is real.
It is OK to have treats, or moments of madness, the occasional 70hr week, a weekend of less desirable intakes; it is when this becomes the normal and you tell yourself that you are balancing it out with something else, you are attempting to blinker yourself from the impact.
Balance is the gentle to and fro of a tree in the wind. Sometimes the wind is stronger and gusty, sometimes gentle. Resilience and Adaptability. To and fro.
The wind doesn't push the tree flat to the ground and then believe it can balance out the impact with more sun and water.
I am sure there is a lot more to this conversation.

The initial go to is, "I say YES too much and NO not enough", and I suppose the way I wrote it on the board does tend to guide your thought that way. What I want you to consider is balance. There are also a lot of times where NO is said too much and YES not said enough; especially around taking on new ventures, socialising, changing careers etc; those times that result in powerful change.
Find balance. YES and NO, the right amounts, at the right times. This Ebbs and Flows, sometimes you need to say YES more, sometimes you need to say NO more, the powerful is in knowing those times.

Sound. A wave of energy sensed by the ear drum and deciphered into information. Kind of powerful when you write it like that. So, relying on someone else to relay what they hear to you is less than desirable. The way others decipher information, filtering data, and collaborating a report, is very subjective and externally influenced. If you want to hear what is going on, you need to listen, YOU.
Be present with your ears wide open.

Deep thought post. Read with an open mind.
Some tie their reasoning to religion. Either the reward of something better as a result of their actions, or a fear of something far worse if their actions are not desirable. Move into a grand house of much comfort and many treats or wander the waste lands, suffering.
Some tie their reasoning to more immediate material, or status based outcomes. Monetary rewards or losses, rank / position advancement or setbacks. Social media praise/exposure or crucifixion.
What if someone did something good for none of those reasons. What if you witnessed something outstandingly good be done and asked the person why they did and they didn't know why. Would you feel the need to provide a reason. Maybe, they are actually a good person, doing something because it felt good to do.
Now for the controversial comments that cause emotional response, get reaction, and make you think.
"If you are only doing good things in fear of repercussion, you are not a good person, you are a bad person on a leash."
"If you are only doing good things in hope of a reward, you are not a good person, you are someone trained to perform"
Good doesn't mean Nice, and isn't always Easy; but that is a whole other post.
A Shout Out to those people who do good things for no other reason than they are good people.
I see you, I respect you.

Extremely confident in expressing an opinion, while at the same time, accepting no responsibility for any adverse outcomes. This seems to be the norm. In amongst this psyche, you never really give an answer. Opinions are shared with passion, with defensive accusations as a response to questions. A fluent ability to divert responsibility is equally an ability to avoid questions.
Instead of replying to questions about your opinion with negative comments about the alternative, answer the question about your opinion with a positive reason why you believe that, stay focused on that positive reason why you are so invested. Instead of avoiding responsibility by changing focus onto other's involvement, focus on the aspects that directly involve you and how you can grow from it.
By avoiding questions and not giving actual answers, the person who you are communicating with, with fabricate answers for you, and that is what they will share with others about you.
What you want, who you are, what you enjoy, what you like, answer these questions yourself, or someone will answer for you.

The tendency isn't to avoid doing the things you need to do by spending all your time doing what you want to do. The tendency is to avoid the things you need to do by doing time consuming, almost time compressing activities; scrolling social media, watching reels and TikTok, sudoku, crosswords etc the things that are easy to justify as "just a quick moment", which takes 30-60min before you know it.
You can't enjoy 4wd-ing, camping, motorcycle riding, frequent drives etc, without maintenance, cleaning, preparation. Doing the less enjoyable things that need to be done, makes the things you enjoy doing a lot more enjoyable.
Do you need to play another level of that game now? Do you need to scroll through posts that you have already read? Do you need to watch the latest episode right now? Are you procrastinating? Are the things that need to be done piling up?
Little bits done regularly will achieve a lot.
