Red Cross Limestone Coast

Red Cross Limestone Coast Red Cross Staff, Volunteers and Branch Members all working hard together to provide support and servi Independence
The Movement is independent.

The Red Cross has been an integral part of the Limestone Coast community for a century. Today people are involved with Red Cross through local Branches in Naracoorte, Mundulla, Kingston, Southend and Kalangadoo, as volunteers in regional towns and through membership of the Australian Red Cross. As the Red Cross moves into it's second century we are aiming to bring together all of these groups into a strong Red Cross Movement. If you are interested in becoming involved please contact the Limestone Coast Red Cross office on 87253622

Services offered by the Red Cross on the Limestone Coast include Transport for your medical appointments, shopping, social or other service needs, Telecross, a daily wellbeing call, and Emergency Services support. In all activities our volunteers, members and staff are guided by the Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. Humanity
The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, born of a desire to bring assistance without discrimination to the wounded on the battlefield, endeavours, in its international and national capacity, to prevent and alleviate human suffering wherever it may be found. Its purpose is to protect life and health and ensure respect for the human being. It promotes mutual understanding, friendship, co-operation and lasting peace amongst all people. Impartiality
It makes no discrimination as to nationality, race, religious beliefs, class or political opinions. It endeavours to relieve the suffering of individuals, being guided solely by their needs, and to give priority to the most urgent cases of distress. Neutrality
In order to continue to enjoy the confidence of all, the Movement may not take sides in hostilities or engage at any time in controversies of a political, racial, religious or ideological nature. The National Societies, while auxiliaries in the humanitarian services of their governments and subject to the laws of their respective countries, must always maintain their autonomy so that they may be able at all times to act in accordance with the principles of the Movement. Voluntary service
It is a voluntary relief movement not prompted in any manner by desire for gain. Unity
There can be only one Red Cross or Red Crescent Society in any one country. It must be open to all. It must carry on its humanitarian work throughout its territory. Universality
The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, in which all Societies have equal status and share equal responsibilities and duties in helping each other, is worldwide.

One life lost is far too many.

Local humanitarians remain the backbone of humanitarian operations around the world. Yet, they are also the ones who bear the overwhelming brunt of violence and loss.

๐Ÿ’‰ We need your help to save lives locally ๐Ÿ’™

Hi Mount Barker community,

Roll up your sleeves and give blood. 1 in 3 people in Mount Barker will need blood in their lifetime.

Thatโ€™s why Lifeblood is popping up in Mount Barker from 27 January to 6 February, and we need your support to make it a success.

Your donation helps people right here in our community:
a mum with breast cancer,
a wounded police officer,
a six-year-old with leukaemia.

For nearly 100 years, saving lives has been Lifebloodโ€™s purpose - and it starts with people like you.

Yesterday, we shared how people can support one another in times of trauma. This included donating blood and by reaching out to check in on friends, family, and neighbours. Since then, Australian Red Cross Lifeblood have seen an overwhelming, record-breaking response in blood donations right across the country and our trauma support tools have been shared significantly throughout community.

What weโ€™re witnessing right now is a powerful reminder that in the wake of tragedy, we see humanity come together - standing with one another, supporting those affected, and showing that even in the hardest moments, community matters.

Recovery, however, takes time, and the need for care, accurate information and connection will continue in the days and weeks ahead. By staying connected, supporting one another, and choosing compassion, we help our communities heal.
