Red Cross Limestone Coast

Red Cross Limestone Coast Red Cross Staff, Volunteers and Branch Members all working hard together to provide support and servi Independence
The Movement is independent.

The Red Cross has been an integral part of the Limestone Coast community for a century. Today people are involved with Red Cross through local Branches in Naracoorte, Mundulla, Kingston, Southend and Kalangadoo, as volunteers in regional towns and through membership of the Australian Red Cross. As the Red Cross moves into it's second century we are aiming to bring together all of these groups into a strong Red Cross Movement. If you are interested in becoming involved please contact the Limestone Coast Red Cross office on 87253622

Services offered by the Red Cross on the Limestone Coast include Transport for your medical appointments, shopping, social or other service needs, Telecross, a daily wellbeing call, and Emergency Services support. In all activities our volunteers, members and staff are guided by the Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. Humanity
The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, born of a desire to bring assistance without discrimination to the wounded on the battlefield, endeavours, in its international and national capacity, to prevent and alleviate human suffering wherever it may be found. Its purpose is to protect life and health and ensure respect for the human being. It promotes mutual understanding, friendship, co-operation and lasting peace amongst all people. Impartiality
It makes no discrimination as to nationality, race, religious beliefs, class or political opinions. It endeavours to relieve the suffering of individuals, being guided solely by their needs, and to give priority to the most urgent cases of distress. Neutrality
In order to continue to enjoy the confidence of all, the Movement may not take sides in hostilities or engage at any time in controversies of a political, racial, religious or ideological nature. The National Societies, while auxiliaries in the humanitarian services of their governments and subject to the laws of their respective countries, must always maintain their autonomy so that they may be able at all times to act in accordance with the principles of the Movement. Voluntary service
It is a voluntary relief movement not prompted in any manner by desire for gain. Unity
There can be only one Red Cross or Red Crescent Society in any one country. It must be open to all. It must carry on its humanitarian work throughout its territory. Universality
The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, in which all Societies have equal status and share equal responsibilities and duties in helping each other, is worldwide.

Some families are displaced again and again by climate disasters. In Asia Pacific, displacement is lasting longer โ€“ but local action is helping people adapt and rebuild.

Humanitarians do their part. They help the wounded. They respond to emergencies. They support their neighbours. They save lives. When they are attacked or killed, entire communities lose access to care and hope.

Protecting humanitarian workers everywhere means protecting entire communities.

Those who are helping others must never be targeted. They should always be able to return safely to their families. Humanitarians must be protected.

Jean-Philippe Miller is on his fourth deployment to Gaza, trading the safety of a hospital at home for a Red Cross field unit in southern Gaza. Haunted by the faces of injured children yet sustained by small moments of hope, he continues to risk his life to care for those caught in the conflict.

"The presence of Red Cross in places like Gaza brings a sense of security to patients and staff, at least at the hospital, in a time of great uncertainty. Being able to help people feel safer when it is dangerous is incredibly valuable. Our attention is on humanitarian needs and protection." - JP Miller, Australian Red Cross delegate and Emergency Nurse.
