The ‘8 rules’ of Metabolic Balance provide us with a common sense (but still research-based) framework from which to eat.

Simple strategies like
-Drinking enough water daily
-Not eating between meals
-Enjoying an apple a day….

Familiar… yet refreshingly simple at the same time.

Let’s talk about movement.
I’m not a personal trainer, but this is a conversation I end up having with most clients at some point, the importance of incorporating some form of mindful movement into daily life.

One question I hear over and over is:
“What’s the best kind of exercise I should be doing?”

My answer never changes:
“The kind you actually enjoy, and will keep doing for years to come.”

Forget the glossy magazine headlines and the latest fitness fads. Move in a way that feels good to you… or at the very least, in a way you can tolerate (because let’s be real, for some, exercise isn’t exactly their favorite thing).

And remember:
Some movement is always better than none.
You can start with just 10 minutes a day.

How can we make the mental load of “being healthy” feel a little lighter?

Here are a few ideas, following on from yesterday’s post if it struck a chord with you:
Plan once, not daily – Use a meal-planning system so you can set your week in motion and avoid the daily “what’s for dinner?” stress.

Shop in ways that suit you – Look for convenient or even enjoyable options: click-and-collect, home delivery, or maybe a Saturday morning market trip with a friend.

Move because you love it – Choose activities that make you feel good, not just the ones you think you “should” do (more on this soon).

Let’s recognize the mental load that often comes with pursuing “health” and how this can feel overwhelming for many.

Making the decision to change is one thing; living those changes day to day can be far more challenging than expected.

Becoming mindful of what you eat, how much you move, or preparing your own meals might be completely new experiences, and that level of awareness can be mentally exhausting. As health professionals, it’s important we remain sensitive to and mindful of this reality.

Let’s talk kids and food….

Last week we went through 3 punnets raspberries in 2 days, this week raspberries are furry, and we don’t like them? Grrr...
But seriously. Repeat after me: ‘consistently offer good food so good food is the norm.’
(I constantly repeat this in my own head!)
That’s really the most powerful thing we can do!
If you head to my Thermomixing page, I have a public event coming up if you’re local to the Caloundra area, which is focused on ‘family food’ from weaning through the ages.

Definitely the core focus of my practice now is Metabolic Balance.
It ticks the boxes for me as a practitioner because its:
-Personalised
-Supported long term
-Real food based
It continues to be the answer so many of my clients come to me seeking when all they really want to know is 'what does my body need to be nourished with so I feel as good as I did before?'

It's true. You might be surprised but my rules for food are pretty simple when it comes to me and my little family.
-Rainbows
-Protein with every meal
-Water and mostly just that
I don't stress to much beyond that.
You know those conversations you hear? Around the lunchtable? 'I shouldn't have eaten that', 'I need to work off the weekend,' 'how many calories is in it' etc.?
They can be really destructive.
Keep it simple. And just get on with it :)

The critical missing link.
To be honest, changing what you eat is one of the hardest things you can actually change. That's a proven fact! Its never actually as simple as 'eat different' or 'eat better' or 'eat less' (the later is rarely the answer IMO). Instead, its about:
-Deciding you are worth the time and effort it takes
-Understanding that said time and effort is not just for the next 12 weeks but a lifetime (its true... those changes you make have to become lifelong habits)
-Realising there is no finish line to race towards just a journey of feeling and being better and better each day.

AI can tell you what to eat. But only you can work on your mindset.

I'm back. Actually I've always been here but in a very reduced capacity, and I'm slowly adding back more hours to my schedule.
So if you'd like to reconnect or connect for the first time, you can jump onto my bookings link below and grab a time :). If you'd prefer after hours or Saturday then please reach out and let me know - I am sure we can work something out.
In the meantime, I'll be here a bit - mainly talking the common sense stuff that so often gets forgotten in this crazy nutty (nutrition) world :)

Are you a past metabolic balance client in need of a Metabolic reset?

I've welcomed back a few previous clients of late so I thought it warranted a post!

if youve:
-Maybe lost your way with a few good habits you developed...
-Aren't feeling as amazing as you were when you went through the program....
-Have had some major life changes e.g. menopause, pregnancies etc. or gone in a new direction with your eating e.g. vegetarianism....

Know that you can book in for a 1 off consult to discuss revisiting your MB plan again, where exactly to start etc.

If it's been a few years please book as a new client to allow enough time :)

Look forward to supporting you again.
