Western Queensland Primary Health Network

Western Queensland Primary Health Network Western Queensland PHN is one of 31 Primary Health Networks (PHNs)

Western Queensland PHN is one of 31 Primary Health Networks (PHNs) established and funded by the Commonwealth Government to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of primary care services for patients, particularly those at risk of poor health outcomes. A key role of Western Queensland PHN is to assess the health care needs of communities and commission health services to meet those needs, minimising gaps or duplication. This is achieved by supporting health services to connect with each other to improve people’s care and strengthen the primary health care system.

☀️ Stay Safe Out West ☀️

As Western QLD heats up, it’s vital we all look out for heat-related illness for ourselves, our families and our neighbours. Heat stress, cramps, exhaustion and even heatstroke can strike quickly, especially when temperatures soar and humidity rises.

✅ What to do to stay safe:
• Drink plenty of water (even if you don’t feel thirsty).
• Stay out of the heat during the hottest part of the day, seek shade or cool indoor spaces if you can.
• Wear light, loose clothing and a hat if you need to be outdoors.
• Know the warning signs: dizziness, weakness, cramps, nausea, rapid heartbeat or confusion.

🚨If someone shows serious symptoms like confusion, fainting, very hot or dry skin, or shallow breathing treat it as an emergency. Call triple zero (000) immediately.

🎉🎉Happy 10th Birthday to WQPHN🎉🎉

WQPHN is proud to mark 10 years of delivering dedicated service, support and care across Western Queensland. For a decade, WQPHN has worked to ensure outback communities can access the health services they need, when and where they need them.

Over the past 10 years, WQPHN has:
➡️Listened and responded to the unique health needs of communities from remote stations to small towns by working closely with local providers and councils to identify and fill service gaps.
➡️Commissioned and funded primary care, mental health and community-based services tailored to rural and remote living, improving access and equity across a vast region.
➡️Supported local health professionals through training, care coordination, digital health systems and culturally appropriate service models to deliver care that reflects the outback context.

WQPHN remains deeply committed to Western Queensland the towns, stations and communities that call this region home and continues to focus on delivering meaningful health outcomes for people living in rural and remote areas

🌟 Western QLD Nursing Future Program – November Training Update 🌟

Congratulations to the participants of the Western QLD Nursing Future Program, who successfully completed two intensive weeks of clinical training and assessment in Townsville this November.

The program encompassed a broad range of essential skills, including IDC insertion, oral, IV and injectable medication administration, blood transfusion procedures, and complex case scenario assessments. We are pleased to share that all participants passed their requirements.

Students also took valuable time out to immerse themselves in cultural learning on Bindal and Wulgurukaba Country.

Well done to everyone involved. 👏👏👏
