Yesterday we had the pleasure of partnering with Moments Grow to deliver our Prep for Prep presentation at one of the Cloncurry Kindergartens we support.

During the session, we touched on:
🗣️ Speech and language development
📖 Pre-literacy skills
✍️ Fine motor skills
👯‍♀️ Social skills
🎨Play development
💭 Social–emotional skills
💆🏼‍♂️ Self-regulation strategies

A big thank you to the families who joined us, we hope you’re feeling confident and empowered to help your little one get ready for Prep in 2026!

💬 Amid a national shortage of speech pathologists or 'speechies', service providers in North West Queensland are coming together to explain how to seek help. 🗣

👉 The message from speechie Georgie Garvie is to come down and say hello, learn about the services available, and get on the wait lists as soon as possible.

"What we try to say to parents is to put your name on all wait lists," she said.

"The point of us bringing awareness to speech pathology is also bringing awareness to early intervention."

🗓️Tuesday 9 September.
6pm to 7pm.
Neighborhood Centre Mount Isa.
Free - Just rock up.👏

✨ Speech Pathology Week ✨

This week we celebrate the important work of speechies!

The theme, “Impact Through Communication”, reminds us that communication is more than words, it’s how we connect, learn, share ideas, and belong. When people are supported to communicate in ways that work for them, the impact is life-changing, opening doors to confidence, empowerment, inclusion and opportunity. 💬🌏

A big Happy Birthday to our wonderful speechie, Georgia. 🥳 Thank you for supporting so many of our clients to achieve their goals. Your caring and gentle nature is loved by so many in our clinic and we hope you’ve had a great day!

As a reminder, Georgia will be away on a well deserved break to NZ as of Friday. She will be back in the clinic in Week 2 of Term 2. ✈️

You are heard, you are seen, you are doing an amazing job. 🫶🏼

This is what it’s all about! 🗣️

We love working alongside Occupational Therapists to support our clients’ self-regulation, ensuring they are ready to learn (and communicate!). In this video, Grace is using multimodal communication through the use of key word sign, an Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) device, gestures, and verbal output, to help our client express her wants and needs (“pushhhh!”).

Chey is providing deep pressure input to calm our client's nervous system, which is allowing her to participate in this activity to her fullest potential, and if you can’t tell, she’s loving it!
