For many First Nations peoples, conducting or receiving a Welcome to Country is an important cultural practice that has been maintained by First Nations people for thousands of years. A Welcome to Country is an important reminder that we all live on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander lands and is a mark of respect for Country, Elders, Traditional Owners and Culture.

Here at headspace, we remain committed to supporting the wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and to creating spaces where culture is recognised, respected and valued. We know that a strong sense of identity, Culture and belonging is central to social and emotional wellbeing. When Culture is not respected, it can have a deep impact on how young people see themselves and their place in the world.

To any First Nations young people who feel hurt, frustrated, upset or affected by the booing during the Welcome to Country at some ANZAC Day services, we see you. Your Culture is something to be proud of, and it deserves to be respected. If you or anyone you know needs support or someone to yarn with, you can always call 13YARN or Lifeline for crisis support, or reach out to headspace via the link: https://headspace.org.au/online-and-phone-support/connect-with-us/

What an incredible time! 🌈🎉

Our Youth Colour Fun Run was an absolute blast — full of energy, laughter, and SO much colour!

From start to finish, it was amazing to see everyone getting involved, supporting each other, and having fun every step of the way. The smiles, the music, and those epic colour moments made it a day to remember! 💥

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and made it so special — we couldn’t have done it without you! 🙌

A big moment worth celebrating

Ella, one of our young people in the IPS program, has recently graduated from school and secured two jobs — all while working closely with our team to build confidence and take steps towards her goals in both work and life.

Her journey hasn’t always been easy, but with the right support, Ella has found a balance that works for her and keeps her moving forward.

To celebrate, she received a customised work and study crib bag to help her stay organised and supported in this new chapter.

At headspace, Work & Study is about more than just finding a job — it’s about supporting young people like Ella to navigate work, life, and everything in between.

Ella is so proud of her achievements and is excited to see where she goes from here.

Need support with work or mental well-being? Stop by or give us a call—we’re here to help.
