Deadlifts are my absolute favorite. If I could only choose one lift for the rest of my life, this would be it. While I know I’m not perfect and there are always stronger and weaker lifters out there. My focus is on my own journey. Or my clients from a work perspective.
Over the past two years I’ve made significant progress, adding 40 kg to my deadlift. My goal for the next two years is to add another 40 kg. Approaching 57 in just three months doesn’t change the focus.
Despite a four month setback beginning in December I never gave up. I refuse to subscribe to the notion that age limits my potential. A huge thank you to my coach .fraser and my physio for their support.
I don’t buy into the idea that those over 30 or 40 shouldn’t lift heavier. I train as hard as I can whenever I can, and I’m stronger now than I was in my 20s. Even though I didn’t start lifting until my 40s.
If you let negative thoughts creep in you’ll never reach your true strength potential. In my opinion that mindset leads to unnecessary injuries. Ones you could have worked around or even avoided by building strength.
Surround yourself with a great team and keep pushing forward 👊🏻
