St John of God Mt Lawley Hospital is a 205-bed hospital located just 4km from the Perth CBD, providing both private and public health care services. Established in 1937, the hospital continues a strong tradition of providing surgical services, maternity care, and is the largest non-government provider of rehabilitation services in Western Australia.

We were once again blown away by the creativity on display in this year’s Hospital Decorating Competition.

With the theme ‘Light Your Way’, our teams beautifully captured light as a symbol of hope, healing and the festive spirit of Christmas, bringing warmth and joy to patients, visitors and caregivers.

🏆 Judge’s Choice Award was awarded to Level 2 Surgical Ward
🏆 People’s Choice Award was won by the Restorative Unit.

Congratulations to our winners, and a heartfelt thank you to all our caregivers who took part and helped light the way this Christmas. 🎄✨

If you need to contact the hospital during the festive season, please call (08) 9370 9222. In the event of an emergency, please dial 000 or proceed to your nearest emergency department.

☕ Our hospital cafe will be closed from 2pm Wednesday 24 December and reopen from Monday 5 January. From 5 January to 9 January the Cafe will close at 2pm every day and will reopen as usual from Monday 12 January. During this time you can still utilise the seating area, enjoy hot beverages and make use of the microwaves and vending machines.
⏰Our visiting hours are 3.00pm to 8.00pm daily.

Please note that our social media will only be monitored periodically. We extend our warmest wishes for a joyful and festive Christmas. 🎄

What a week! 🎉

Last week we celebrated the festive season in style, starting with a delightful breakfast and barista-made coffees from Twisties Coffee Van for our amazing night duty caregivers ☕🌙

The celebrations continued with a festive food truck lunch, treating our caregivers to a delicious feast from Greek, Mexican and pizza to donuts and ice cream 🍕🌮🍩🍦

To top it all off, our CEO Dilwyn Griffiths was brave enough to take a turn in the dunk tank, all in the name of charity! 💦👏 Luckily, it was a hot day!

Last week we celebrated our amazing volunteers with a delicious Christmas lunch prepared by our in-house catering team and served by our Hospital Management Committee.

We whole heartedly thank our team of 50 volunteers for generously donating their time over the past year, enabling them to provide a warm smile and a guiding hand to help those most in need.

From escorting patients, assisting patients, or playing music to a newspaper library service, our volunteers help with all the small things that make a BIG different to our patients here at Mt Lawley.

From every caregiver at our hospital and all of the patients you have helped, MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Our Caregiver Christmas Party at Long Neck Brewery was a full-on Holiday Hoedown! Our incredible caregivers showed up in their cowboy finest and line-danced the night away. What a joyful night with an even more joyful team! 🎄

Liz, a registered nurse in our Endoscopy Unit, was nominated by both fellow caregivers and patients for the exceptional care and professionalism she shows every day. "Her communication skills are excellent toward patients and caregivers. Her ability to plan and think ahead truly aid the efficiency of unit whilst maintaining all our high standards of policies and patient centred care."
