If weather and forest conditions are suitable, firefighters will ignite several planned burns across Central Victoria over the next couple of days. This includes:
📍Bawden Road, Macedon (157 hectares)
📍Nuggety Gully Road, Talbot (98 hectares)
📍Alpine Avenue, Macedon (30 hectares)
📍Gray Street, St Arnaud (6 hectares)
To find out when and where planned burns are happening near you, go to or sign up at www.vic.gov.au/plannedburns or call 1800 226 226.
Forest Fire Management Victoria works closely with the Bureau of Meteorology to assess weather conditions – such as humidity, temperature and wind speed and will only carry out burns when it is safe to do so.
Think about how smoke from these burns may affect you and take precautions to reduce your exposure.
If you experience any symptoms that may be due to smoke exposure, the Department of Health and Human Services advises that you should seek medical advice or call NURSE-ON-CALL on 1300 60 60 24.
Planned burns are critical to reduce the potential size, intensity and impact of future bushfires on the community and environment.
Reducing fuel loads means bushfires are less intense, making it more likely that firefighters can contain them before they impact on people, property, and the environment.
Firefighters and emergency management vehicles will be operating in these areas while the burns are completed.
