A chemical peel is a procedure in which a natural chemical solution is applied to the skin to remove the top layers of the skin to reveal the fresh, new skin layers.

At MP Skin Aesthetics we offer different solutions and strengths of peel to suite your specific goals, skin condition and skin type.

​There are three different types of chemical peel we use at MP Skin Aesthetics including:

1. Glycolic Peel – Softens fine lines and wrinkles whilst hydrating the skin. The Glycolic Peel is ideal for mild sun damage, acne and hyperpigmentation. Visible peeling is unlikely and most patients can go about their normal activities.

2. Lactic Peel – Recommended for dry, mature and sensitive skin types. Ideal for softening fine lines and wrinkles, targeting pigmentation and minor sun damage. Visible peeling is unlikely post treatment.

3. Reveal Peel – Recommended for mild skin pigmentations, post inflammatory hyperpigmentation and UV skin damage for more mature skin. This more intense peel improves skin texture and stimulates collagen production. With minimal downtime this peel hydrates and softens the skin. Visible peeling may occur 3-5 days after treatment.

Not all peels are suitable for everyone, and so an experienced therapist can help choose the most ideal peel for your goals and skin condition.

April is Rosacea Awareness Month

Rosacea is a condition characterised by facial redness. It’s a common skin condition that is caused by visible blood vessels on your face and is commonly found around the nose, cheeks, chin and between the brow.

If your face looks like you’re blushing and you get bumps that are a bit like acne, you might have Rosacea. The symptoms may flare up for weeks to months and then go away.

Rosacea can be mistaken for acne, other skin problems or natural ruddiness. It can affect anyone but is most common in middle-aged women who have light skin.
